Yard going well and do well around here. Having first run over hurdles with his jumping of fences deteriorating of late. Looks handicapped to the hilt and others preferred.

Best judged on latest effort when comfortably beaten 8L off level weights by a horse now rated 116. Connections will find it hard to comprehend how today's mark has been calculated. The significant improvement factored in will need to be delivered.

Has improved with each run over hurdles to date. Steps back up in trip here and does not have to find much to be in the mix. Ran as though she is ready for this distance last time and respected for top yard.

Has given problems at the start of late so carries obvious risks. Has shown some ability but is hard to recommend.

His Wetherby fifth to Craggaknok would be good enough here but he has been too keen and below that level since. Needs to settle better if he is to see out this longer trip.

Interesting runner for good yard arrives on the back of a more encouraging effort last time. Flat form and pedigree suggest he may struggle to see out the trip. He has appeared a lazy sort and it will be intriguing to see what his talented trainer can produce.

May improve for handicap debut and longer trip but has looked only moderate thus far. Hood tried for the first time.

Forecasts

Pearl Royale (15/8), Starlight Court (2/1), Magic Dancer (4/1), Follow The Swallow (7/1), Oriental Fixer (9/1), Schnabel (10/1), Mr Globetrotter (11/1), Honest Intent (12/1), Bold Runner (12/1), Lime Street (14/1), Squablin (25/1)

Verdict

MAGIC DANCER gets a trip over hurdles for the first time which his flat form suggests should be within his range. His form of last season looks ordinary but his latest effort looks a lot better and any improvement for the extra half-mile will make him hard to beat. Starlight Court has a progressive profile and is feared along with Schnabel who could be a different proposition now handicapping.
  1. Magic Dancer
  2. Starlight Court
  3. Schnabel
