Ran well at Kempton on debut to finish second despite showing signs of greenness, but made no mistake at Wolverhampton last time to land short odds. Should get a mile easily but faces competition for the lead this time. Still holds a solid chance.
Possibly needed latest Kempton run after five months off, but still ran well to finish third after being forced wide on the home turn. Form of Chelmsford win last September not working out however, and may need to find a bit more here.
Much improved towards the end of last year, winning back to back handicaps at Newcastle and Southwell, but very disappointing when last seen, trailing in last. Needs to bounce back from that, but may find other better handicapped horses improving past him regardless.
Dug deep and showed a good attitude to hold off Dubai Waves at Chelmsford earlier in the month, form that's working out well (third and fourth winners since). Stayed the mile well there and looked to have plenty of improvement to come.
Starting to look a bit exposed after only eight starts and not progressing, with the drop in grade not helping the situation last time. Handles the surface but this looks a tough race to be breaking your duck in, and is passed over.
Has had two runs on the surface, neither anything to write home about and didn't do any better for the switch to handicaps last time (finished behind Major Cornwallis). Needs improvement to get involved.
Acts well on the surface and took a couple of modest handicaps here last Autumn, looking like one that still had improvement in him. Not so good upped in grade last time but not beaten far, and may yet find a bit more.
Forecasts
Marzouq (2/1), Tricorn (9/4), Faience (9/2), Major Cornwallis (8/1), Ronnie The Rooster (10/1), Dream Team (22/1), Naupaka (25/1)
It may pay to stick with the last time out winners FAIENCE and Tricorn, with preference for the former as William Haggas has such a good strike rate with handicap debutants, and this one really impressed with her attitude last time. She is taken to beat Tricorn, who has done nothing wrong but Faience just looks the better treated at this stage. Marzouq may not represent much value and Ronnie The Rooster is taken to fill the places out
- Faience
- Tricorn
- Ronnie The Rooster
