Travelled well enough last week at Naas before tiring and finishing third, that was first run since April and might have needed it.

May have his own notions about the game, didn't show much in two hurdles starts after twice running out in point-to-points. First start in this sphere.

Was essentially a bit disappointing at Leopardstown in January, well-bred however and leading amateur rider stays faithful.
Point-to-point runner-up before joining current connections, expensive purchase and trainer has 60-per-cent strike in bumpers recently.

Ran well enough in two Fairyhouse bumpers this time last year without winning, off since and one to look out for in the betting.
Up with the leaders but faded tamely in Leopardstown contest at Christmas, off since and hood goes on this time.
Flattered by his proximity to Carter McKay last time at Naas, needs a bit more to get involved in the finish.

Weakened a long way from home at Downpatrick in September having moved forward menacingly, hard to fancy.
Kalanisi mare makes racecourse bow in this, faces a sizeable task on debut in all probability.

Forecasts

Coeur De Beauchene (1/1), Stowaway Forever (4/1), Laverteen (5/1), Zen Master (9/1), Balkalin (9/1), Biennial (16/1), R'evelyn Pleasure (16/1), The Lady Of Brega (25/1), Bank Balance (33/1)

Verdict

Given the recent record of his trainer in bumpers, it is hard to get away from COEUR DE BEAUCHENE in the finale. He cost a pretty penny after running well in his only point-to-point outing and must have leading claims of a winning start under rules. Balkalin ran well on his comeback at Naas a week ago and may do better if not feeling any effects of that run while Biennial should also be capable of better than his Leopardstown debut showing. Returning from a layoff here is Laverteen, who has run well in two of these already and is worth a market check.
  1. Coeur De Beauchene
  2. Biennial
  3. Balkalin
