Horse A-Z
Won a point-to-point in good style last month and has a notable jockey booking for this racecourse debut.

Fared marginally better last month at Naas over reduced trip, drops to minimum distance now though trainer has been out of form lately.

Bumper winner has finished second on previous two hurdles starts, sent off favourite both times. A better jump at the last at Leopardstown in January might have won the race, has claims once more in this.

Race-fit from running in pair of point-to-points this year already, ran well enough in that sphere to suggest she'll have something to say for herself on rules bow.
Another newcomer to the racecourse, trainer has been quiet so far this calendar year and would require market vibes to support on debut.

Showed up well enough in two outings over hurdles already to merit consideration, should have place claims in this.

Drops in trip having finished moderate fourth of 16 on hurdles bow at Fairyhouse in January. Fair way off the principles but could offer more.

Hasn't offered much in two runs over hurdles so far, not one to be getting involved with for now.
Tried everything from two-miles to three-miles in trio of hurdle runs so far, showing little in terms of promise. Back down in trip significantly for this.

Jumping debut Clonmel was nothing to get excited about, doesn't appear to be one of the trainer's promising types but may still do better in time over hurdles.

Forecasts

Bargy Lady (2/7), Not A Whisper (7/1), At Rainbow's End (8/1), Ardean Lass (10/1), Play At Midnight (12/1), Strike Is Back (22/1), Gi Jayne (28/1), Jamies Sister (50/1), Pyrford Pippin (100/1), Slaney Craiglegacy (100/1)

Verdict

This doesn't appear to be the strongest mares contest and so it will prove a disappointment if BARGY LADY cannot open her account. She was under the pump from some way out last time and just didn't appear to meet the final flight on a perfect stride, costing her the race. She did gallop strongly to the line however and is the one to beat in this field for the champion trainer/jockey team. The others with form are not inspiring, with Not A Whisper making an improved effort at Naas last month perhaps the pick. Newcomer Ardean Lass won a point-to-point last month and with a positive jockey booking looks best equipped to trouble the selection. Strike Is Back may be capable of better that she has shown to date and is respected for her trainer, while Gi Jayne has some merit on her recent point-to-point form.
  1. Bargy Lady
  2. Ardean Lass
  3. Not A Whisper
