Has had his training issues. Would have no problem taking this at his peak but his two runs back raise serious doubts as to whether that may be possible.
Successful on debut for new yard but has checked out early on two starts since. A visor is now tried and he is due to be reunited with his last winning rider.
Tongue-tie and forcing tactics helped to produce an improved effort last time. Remains a risky jumper and has looked temperamental on occasions. Yard are going well and this race will take little winning.
Winner over this trip at Ayr despite the odd error. Jumped better there last time when the trip may have been too far. Yard do well here and have a good record during March/April over the past two seasons. Has a very good chance in a weak race.
Hit a purple patch in December and managed to pick up a minor race here over a shorter trip. Has never finished out of the first four around here so respected despite some lacklustre efforts recently.
Won four races over fences last winter but has not looked the same horse since. Stable are going through an unproductive spell.
Dual point-to-point winner who has looked moderate thus far. Well held by The Orange Rogue when unseating rider at the last in January and that gives him a lot to find on today's terms.
Has 2L to find with Achill Road Boy on Ayr running in December and reopposes on 2lb better terms. Stable going better now than they were then and blinkers are applied. Found trip too far last time and will get few easier opportunities to get off the mark.
Forecasts
The Orange Rogue (11/4), Achill Road Boy (7/2), Spoils Of War (4/1), Verko (11/2), Moon Indigo (10/1), Danehills Well (12/1), Dream Flyer (16/1), Rosquero (25/1)
SPOILS OF WAR rates the pick in a weak race. His stable are going better now than at any time during the winter. That makes the chances of him turning the tables with his Ayr conqueror Achill Road Boy all the more likely and the blinkers may yield a bit more too. Achill Road Boy is back to his optimum trip and looks more of a threat than The Orange Rogue.
