€35,000 purchase and a half-brother to Listed Flat winner Holy Warrior. Yard still in decent form and has a 26% strike rate in this sphere, so a market check is advised.
£50,000 buy. Third in both a point-to-point and a bumper so far, the latter being a good effort after being outpaced and staying on well. Should be able to improve on that and looks like being a leading player.
Cost connections £28,000 last May. Yard not known for having debut bumper winners, which makes his 10L Newcastle success first time out all the more notable. Slightly better ground forecast here might help him with shouldering a penalty and still has his rider's big claim to call upon.
Cost just £7,000 last year. Half-brother to Dealing River, who won a bumper on his second start and who is a multiple winner over hurdles and fences at around 2m. Interesting if the market speaks in his favour.

Forecasts

Midnight Shadow (11/10), Maria's Benefit (15/8), It's Your Move (2/1), Motley Crew (5/1), Brecon Hill (5/1), Echo Express (11/2), Drums Of War (10/1), Go Go Lucas (16/1), Duffy Allen (25/1), Geneva Trumpet (66/1)

Verdict

The form of Brecon Hill's Catterick win has worked out well and he should be thereabouts again and the same applies to It's Your Move and Maria's Benefit. Echo Express and Motley Crew are interesting debutants, though the vote this time goes to MIDNIGHT SHADOW, who looked much more forward than many from his yard first time out and may well be capable of defying a penalty.
  1. Midnight Shadow
  2. It's Your Move
  3. Brecon Hill
