All three career wins were gained when trained by Arthur Moore and at trips up to 2m1f on soft or heavy ground. Has plummeted 26lb in the weights since joining current yard and the market will probably be the best guide as to whether he is likely to figure more prominently than on his six previous outings this winter encountering this much quicker ground.
Standing dish at the likes of Hexham and Sedgefield, last winning at the Durham venue in May 2016 (good to firm). Likes to race prominently and can be a force to be reckoned with if gifted a soft lead. Will enjoy these conditions and has been lightly raced recently presumably with a spring campaign at Hexham in mind.
Often let down by his jumping and has long promised to one day make a mockery of his falling handicap mark over fences, but unfortunately for connections, that day never arrives. His last success came back in June 2015 at Hexham (from a mark of 105) and will surely be headed back to that Northumberland track from mid March onwards.
An eleven race maiden whose form figures in four starts for this trainer are not easy on the eye, but he was admittedly well out of his depth over this C&D behind Frodon last month. However, he still seemingly holds little chance despite this being a much weaker race.
His last success came in a juvenile hurdle for Gordon Elliott at Perth in September 2011, and whilst he's been runner up on a few occasions since, you'd need very deep pockets to follow him religiously. Seems better at Hexham than anywhere, and can't be fancied despite this being such a poor race.
Forecasts
Pekanheim (1/1), Treat Yourself (5/2), Gin Cobbler (15/2), The Ice Factor (8/1), Daydream Island (14/1)
With the greatest of respect to connections, this is far from a strong handicap chase. Treat Yourself is the interesting horse in the race having plummeted in the weights since moving from Ireland, and he looks primed to run a big race on this better ground. However, whilst he adores Hexham, it's impossible to overlook GIN COBBLER with the suspicion that he's more than capable of running these under-performing rivals ragged from the front if gifted a soft lead. In such a poor race he's worth chancing.
1. Gin Cobbler
2. Treat Yourself
3. Pekanheim
