Although successful only once showed mainly consistent form on turf last term. Has shown little on both outings on the AW this year and looks best watched.
Scored at first time of asking for current yard, over C&D, after moving from Richard Hughes. Well beaten when running off a 6lb higher mark and stepped up in trip on only subsequent start.
Landed back-to-back Chelmsford wins in January last year, the latter off a mark of 76, but has steadily gone off the boil since. Would like to see signs of a return to form before recommending. Again wears a tongue strap.
Badly out of form of late and barely beaten a rival home on last five starts but has fallen to his last winning mark as a result. Has won on the Tapeta but he doesn't look like one to reply upon.
Scored by 7L over an extended 2m here in December and not disgraced when keeping on well to be fourth to Taopix over this trip at Newcastle at the beginning of the month.
Has shown a liking for the track, winning here five times, including once at this trip. Has shown little since winning here over an extended 1m1f a year ago and consequently his handicap mark has tumbled. Would need proof that he is still retains all his ability before recommending him.
Has occupied the runner up spot on last three outings - all at Southwell. Runs off the same mark here and may need the handicapper to relent before getting his head in front again.
Has produced some fair efforts on the AW, including wins at Lingfield and Newcastle. Has not shown much on two starts this year. Now dropped to the handicap mark of his latest victory.
Veteran who seems to have lost his way but not been with this yard for long and he may bounce back at some stage.
Third over C&D three runs ago his best recent effort, otherwise well beaten. Would need to improve.
Four AW wins in 2015, including two over C&D but seems to have lost his way. Well beaten in two outings this year.
Forecasts
Spes Nostra (5/2), Medicine Hat (3/1), Ravens Quest (13/2), Heart Locket (8/1), The Gay Cavalier (10/1), Grand Meister (11/1), Fast Play (16/1), Brigadoon (20/1), English Summer (40/1), Freud (40/1), With Hindsight (80/1)
With most of these looking to have question marks against them, FAST PLAY can make it two out of three for his new yard. He plainly found the distance too far on his latest outing and a return to this trip can see him get his head in front. Heart Locket has dropped to a reasonable mark and could fill the runner-up spot, while Medicine Hat may have sufficient speed in this weak contest to grab the minor placing.
1. Fast Play
2. Heart Locket
3. Medicine Hat
