Winner in bumpers and over hurdles although she was a fortunate winner over obstacles at Ayr around a year ago. Switched to fences now and showed her best form in that sphere last time out at Kelso on her handicap chase debut, shaping better than the result. Dropped 2lb for that effort but her mark still looks stiff and she also goes down in trip.
Has shown some useful form over hurdles (winner of two novices) but yet to score in handicaps over jumps. In three attempts over fences so far he has just one decent effort to his name on his second start (unseated on debut) when runner-up at Hexham off a 4lb higher mark. Needs to bounce back from two poor efforts of late, however.
Only chase win from nine attempts came at this course over 2n4f off a 2lb lower mark. Run over further than his win in his last three starts off higher marks and has struggled including in first-time cheekpieces (retained here) last time out when he never really travelled.
Winner on the Flat, and over hurdles, who makes her chase debut off a mark 1lb lower mark than her last hurdles win at Cartmel over 2m6f. Hasn't looked in top form of late but her yard is going well and she is worthy of respect trying something new.
Failed to win over hurdles (0/12) despite a couple of fair efforts; one of the which came on his penultimate start at Ayr (run here seven times) when he shaped better than the distance beaten. Well beaten on chase debut at Carlisle on his last start and dropped 4lb for that effort.
Upturn in form has coincided with the better form of the stable having previously won over hurdles in France. Showed promise on his penultimate start at Catterick (2m) and capitalised on a heavily reduced mark next time out to win here over 2m. Only raised 7lb for that win and still looks to have scope over a slightly longer trip.
Forecasts
Las Tunas (13/8), Billy Billy (7/2), Virnon (4/1), So Satisfied (6/1), Craiganboy (14/1), Cowslip (16/1)
The well-handicapped and seemingly improving LAS TUNAS may well give his rejuvenated stable another Ayr winner. The 7lb rise for his last win looks reasonable and he’s still at the right end of the weights here in a field where there are few improvers. Billy Billy could probably do with a longer trip and a slightly easier mark but she is in better form that most here and has shown up well over the larger obstacles. Both Virnon and So Satisfied need to bounce back from poor efforts of late, although the former can be given a solid chance on the form he showed on his second start over fences.
