An intermittent winner on the AW in Dundalk and has dropped to a handy mark. However, recent evidence suggest he may need a little more assistance before he can be considered well handicapped. Opposable under topweight.
Won a modest race over C&D last time out and has an obvious chance on similar terms, in similar company this time around. However, he has never won two consecutive races so it would be a bit too presumptive to be eulogising about his claims before seeing the how the betting market is shaping up in earnest. Nevertheless, he has realistic place claims in a weak race.
Needs a test of stamina but almost put an end to a long losing run on his penultimate start. Disconcerting that he couldn't build on that performance last time, but he is entitled to be involved in the thick of the action. Needs a strong pace for his stamina to come into play though.
The handicapper took very few chances with him as a youngster when he was under the tutelage of the shrewd Lady Herries several years ago. However, he has enjoyed a varied, yet unsuccessful career since then and is very difficult to weigh up now he returns to the Flat.
Comes into this on the back of her best effort to date, when making the frame at Kempton earlier in the month and she is unexposed at this trip. One of the more interesting runners.
Won over 1m4f at this course in January but failed to cope with his penalty last time out on the Polytrack at Kempton. The longer trip may bring about some improvement and he has the services of an in-form jockey so holds each-way claims.
Been in fair form but was well held behind Scrafton over C&D last time out and has plenty on in his attempt to reverse the form. Respected but others appear to hold more solid claims.
Mixed form with her old rival Lineman, but readily got the better of him last time out. May struggle to back that up if turned out under a penatly though and seems an inconsistent type.
Lightly raced filly who has nothing but poor form to her name and first time cheekpieces need to bring about plenty of improvement.
Forecasts
Tred Softly (11/4), Scrafton (3/1), Dream Serenade (9/2), Asian Wing (11/2), Lineman (8/1), Tingo In The Tale (9/1), Iona Island (18/1), Somepink (100/1), Musical Moon (150/1)
A tough one to call as all of them have a few niggling doubts hanging over their heads. However, IONA ISLAND has hit form at the right time for a modest heat such as this and may take the beating if she hits the gates running. Dream Serenade has to be respected after winning in game style last time out. This evening's trip and a 6lb penalty make things tougher for her on this occasion, though. Scrafton has the beating of a few of his old rivals on these terms and is respected ahead of Asian Wing as the best best of the rest.
1. Iona Island
2. Dream Serenade
3. Scrafton
