Gained his first success over regulation fences when winning this race on heavy ground last year and duly followed up at Leicester next time out. Disappointed a couple of times since and finished behind today's rival Monsieur Gibraltar at Milborne St Andrew on his seasonal debut earlier this month.
Winner of a hunter chase at Ludlow over 2m4f on his final outing of 2016 and hampered two out when finishing fourth at Barbury on his return to action just over a week ago. Regular jockey in the saddle once more here.
Won a couple of handicap chases off low marks prior to going point-to-pointing where outclassed when pulled up on his first two outings. Finished a distant runner-up on soft ground in that sphere earlier this month and likely more needed to get competitive here.
Winner of a hunter chase at Wincanton in May 2015 and disqualified from first place in a point-to-point 12 months later. Ran better than the bare result suggests when pulling up at Wadebridge earlier this month and likely to have come on for that effort.
Winner of a maiden race in March 2015 and finished third in a modest hunter chase at Fontwell two months later. Held when coming down at the last in this race 12 months ago and hasn't been seen since pulling up in a novice hunter chase at Newton Abbot last May.
Useful performer a few years ago but hasn't won in well over four years. Ran well to be fourth in a big field over 2m1f at Stratford in May and makes his first start since in this.
Dual winning hurdler in France and successful on his British debut for a top yard in April 2015. Disappointing in the main since but made a winning point-to-point debut when easily scoring at Milborne St. Andrew a fortnight ago and this drop in trip looks unlikely to inconvenience him.
Forecasts
Monsieur Gibraltar (2/5), Ballytober (11/2), Delta Borget (7/1), Parkam Jack (14/1), Anglingforcharlie (25/1), Court In Session (33/1), Lamb's Cross (40/1)
MONSIEUR GIBRALTAR hasn't always looked a natural over fences, most notably when a beaten odds-on favourite at Bangor in May 2016 but he should have enough class to get off the mark at the first attempt in hunter chases. The selection was an easy winner over three miles in a point-to-point last time out and represents a yard with a very good 42% strike rate (8./42) in these events in recent seasons and he can get the better of Delta Borget who took this race in 2016 and last seasons Ludlow hunter chase victor Ballytober.
1. Monsieur Gibraltar
2. Delta Borget
3. Ballytober
