Veteran retains all his enthusiasm for the game based on his efforts this season, finishing a good second to the useful Wild Bill at Chaddesley Corbett last time out, and this trip probably suits better than further these days. Handles heavy ground, is a very straightforward ride and this formerly high class chaser holds a solid chance here.
Won a few for David Bridgwater in his time there, and these conditions were ideal for him at his peak, so no qualms on that score, but has backed out of things a bit too quickly for comfort in two point-to-points this winter, leading and then weakening both times. This drop back in trip could be ideal though, and he might take some catching if allowed to get in a rhythm.
Multiple winner of point-to-points over the last two seasons and showed he handles heavy ground when winning at Leicester in March last year, but disappointing at Ampton in a point-to-point on comeback (made 6-4f) and needs to bounce back from that.
Moderate handicap chaser for Venetia Williams under Rules, often needing trips in excess of 3m to show his best, and not shown much in two point-to- points for new yard, well beaten at the finish both times. Handles heavy ground but does need to turn his form around to have a chance of getting involved.
Winner of two of his 16 starts, both moderate point-to-point events at Pyle and Penshurst, and seems best on good ground, so conditions here far from ideal; looks to have too much on his plate.
Poor under Rules for Carroll Grey, and no better for new point to point yard, pulling up and unseating on latest two starts. Maiden after 22 starts and doesn't look like breaking his duck here either.
Forecasts
Big Fella Thanks (11/10), Dont Do Mondays (2/1), Man Of Steel (9/2), Take The Mick (16/1), Only Time'll Tell (20/1), Vering (100/1)
A chance is taken on DON'T DO MONDAYS under conditions that should be ideal for him here. He has missed a couple of point-to-point engagements over the weekend to race here and the hint should be taken. He can make all at the expense of the ever-likeable Big Fella Thanks, keeping his form at the age of 15, and Man Of Steel, who can beat the remainder home for third.
1. Dont Do Mondays
2. Big Fella Thanks
3. Man Of Steel
