9/2
Dual bumper winner who has yet to win over hurdles from three starts but came back from a long absence to show that he still has ability on his handicap debut at Catterick recently. Still needs to jump better over hurdles but dropped 2lb and in an easier grade here.

Age: 10|  Weight: 11-10| J: Jack Sherwood(3)| T: Miss C Dyson| OR:  103
8/1
Has shown some steady form over hurdles although he turned in a rather weak effort last time out at Huntingdon in a race where he went in snatches although the winner has since won again. Still 3lb above highest winning mark and others looks to have better chances.

Lime Street23
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-10| J: James Davies| T: T Symonds| OR:  103
14/1
Reverts to hurdles after two modest efforts over fences especially last time out when his jumping left plenty to be desired. Yet to win over hurdles from six attempts and often fails to settle in his races.

Doktor Glaz451
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-9| J: Craig Nichol| T: R Dobbin| OR:  102
7/1
Returns from a lengthy break after showing plenty of aptitude for chasing last time out at Doncaster over 3m. Has shown some decent form over hurdles despite not winning and the handicapper gives him a chance here on his return dropping him to 102.

Grand Enterprise27
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-8| J: Jamie Hamilton(3)| T: H Hogarth| OR:  101
9/1
Had shown promise on his previous run prior to scoring at Doncaster in January over 3m showing improved form over a staying trip. Found out by the increased mark last time out and only dropped a pound for that run here.

Midnight Request15
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-7| J: Mr Robert Hawker(7)| T: N J Hawke| OR:  100
6/1
Has shown some fair form over fences but reverted to hurdling last time out off a lower hurdles mark at Hereford. That run was only modest though and others would be preferred even in this lowly grade.

Still to win over hurdles after 18 attempts and often makes life hard for himself with the way he travels and jumps. Headgear tried last time is retained here but despite being on a handy mark his overall record doesn't convince.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-0| J: D R Fox| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  93

His jumping has been letting him down over fences and no surprise to see him given another try over hurdles although he has yet to win in that sphere also. Down 5lb from his last run but previous hurdles starts have failed to convince.

Sue Oscar14
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: R P McLernon| T: C Grant| OR:  93

Very modest form in three runs for this yard, with the latest two starts over hurdles showing that she is struggling for form at the moment. Drops another 5lb in the weights but may need even more relief yet.

Brae On16
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-9| J: Jonathon Bewley(5)| T: G Bewley| OR:  88
10/1
Form over hurdles is modest but is a through stayer as shown in his back-to-back wins at Kelso and Catterick, although those victories were a while ago. Failed to convince over fences and returned to hurdles last time out at Kelso off a reduced mark and dropped a further 3lb here although never looks an easy ride.

Forecasts

Onwiththeparty (3/1), Smoking Dixie (9/2), Professor Plum (9/2), Midnight Request (6/1), Doktor Glaz (7/1), Giveitachance (8/1), Grand Enterprise (9/1), Brae On (10/1), Unex Canaletto (12/1), Lime Street (14/1), Orioninverness (16/1), Sue Oscar (50/1)

Verdict

Smoking Dixie sets a reasonable standard on his handicap debut off what looks a reasonable mark and he could well figure on his first try in this sphere. However it may well be two that are returning from long breaks in Doktor Glaz and UNEX CANALETTO that are the most interesting. The first one of that duo has been given a chance by the handicapper here but it’s Unex Canaletto who sparks the most interest as he returns to the track for a yard who know how to get one ready with the top Northern pilot booked. 1. Unex Canaletto 2. Doktor Glaz 3. Smoking Dixie
