Needs a fair amount of improvement for switch to hurdling based on two bumper runs so far.
Bumper winner at Down Royal over Christmas, chased home the Supreme favourite Melon on hurdles bow at Leopardstown. Clear second then and must have leading claims of going one better.
Fairly laboured efforts in three maiden hurdle outings so far, drops in trip this time but hard to fancy a big improvement.
Better showing on second bumper outing at Down Royal three weeks ago. That came after a substantial layoff, entitled to be fitter now but needs plenty more.
Moderate winner on the Flat, jumping wasn't especially good on debut at Cork in October. Since joined this yard and needs improvement to be competitive.
Attempted to make the running in a Thurles bumper recently, finding the going tough from a long way out and pulled up before the home straight.
Returned from more than 400 days off to be second in 20-runner Naas contest last month. That form gives her a chance if none the worse for that return and she has plenty experience on track.
Decent performer on the Flat, should be wiser after jumps bow at Leopardstown last month and jockey booking can only be viewed as a positive.
Mare has gone off at odds of 100/1 in all five maiden hurdles she's contested to date, doing little to suggest those odds are wrong.
Unseated her rider on debut over jumps a week ago at Naas, was running well enough at the time and trainer form entitles her to respect.
Form on the level was modest, off the track since October and best watched on jumps debut unless market suggests different.
Forecasts
Broken Soul (4/11), Miss Mardan (11/4), Not A Whisper (7/1), Bold Sky (20/1), Ben Rumson (33/1), Ballyhowne (33/1), King's War (50/1), Ned's Island (66/1), Stole The Show (66/1), Galloping Anger (66/1), Sunset Sadie (100/1)
BROKEN SOUL made a pleasing start over hurdles at Leopardstown last month, coming home a clear second in a race won by Melon – the ante-post favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham. The Gigginstown runner should be able to build on that and get off the mark now. Miss Mardan returned from a layoff with a good run at Naas last month and should be on the premises again while Not A Whisper promises to be wiser on second jumps start and has an able pilot for assistance. Of the remainder, Bold Sky could play a hand having unseated at Naas just seven days ago on hurdles bow.
1. Broken Soul
2. Miss Mardan
3. Not A Whisper
