His frustrating run of form was extended at Uttoxeter last time out, where he was readily left for dead by the main protagonists. He does have claims on the pick of his form and holds the likes of Tara Bridge, but the handicapper looks to have his measure just now.

Posted a woeful effort at Doncaster at the back end of December and is very hard to fancy judging by that evidence. The short break will have needed to have really rekindled his interest., so he may be best watched this time around.

Tara Bridge27
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-7| J: Tom Cannon| T: C Gordon| OR:  108
5/2
Showed a good spirit last time out but has flattered to deceive on a number of occasions now. A bit of a leap of faith combined with a touch of luck are required if supporting him in his quest to finally get rid of his maiden tag.

The handicapper is starting to relent, which may have been a factor in a handful of solid efforts in defeat. Hard to win with though, and needs everything to go his way.

With none of the rest appearing as if they are candidates for making the running, he is interesting contender for a race of this nature. He is 7lb higher than his winning mark at Exeter, but this won't take much winning and he will be a danger to all if he is allowed to slip the noose.

Not without a chance on the pick of his form and is on a very handy mark if he can pull something out of the fire. Recent evidence suggests that is unlikely but he is very well handicapped in comparison to his best efforts over hurdles.

Forecasts

The Geegeez Geegee (2/1), Tara Bridge (5/2), Un Anjou (6/1), Only Gorgeous (7/1), Midtech Valentine (7/1), Allow Dallow (10/1), River Purple (25/1)

Verdict

A tough one to call, as every one of them has at least a couple of points of query. ONLY GORGEOUS has fewer questions to answer than most of them, so he gets a speculative vote of confidence this time around. Allow Dallow got the better of, Tara Bridge the last time they encountered each other, and is taken to at least uphold that form. Un Anjou is well handicapped at the moment and also appeals as a threat; he is worth noting in the betting. 1. Only Gorgeous 2. Allow Dallow 3. Tara Bridge
