Beat a good yardstick in this sphere on his Wetherby debut, while the third in that race has since come out and demolished a field on his hurdling debut, so while it is always a big ask defying a penalty in bumpers, he would appear to have as good a chance as most of doing so.
€17,500 purchase as a three-year-old, bred to stay and represents a yard who has had one winner from just three recent runners, though has also had just one bumper winner in five seasons. Perhaps best watched unless the markets speaks loudly in his favour.
€22,000 purchase. Solid if unspectacular debut effort here in December, but given connections she is likely to be able to benefit for that run this time. Another about whom a market check looks sound advice.
By a top jumps sire, though well beaten a long way out on her Carlisle debut. Can improve for that experience, though it takes a leap of faith to fancy her this time.
Not an obvious jumping pedigree and with yard not having had a recent winner, nor ever having had a bumper winner here, a watching brief is advised this time.
Decent effort on debut at Newcastle in December and entitled to improve for that. Proved he handles cut there, though again, yard's recent form and bumper form at this track does not inspire confidence despite presence of a top pilot.
Modest €5,800 purchase by a jumps sire who has not yet given us much to go on. Best watched on debut.
Shown little on two starts at Wetherby so far and needs a marked improvement to come good against a couple of these.
Forecasts
Uncle Alastair (8/15), Dunly (4/1), Witness Time (6/1), Night Comes In (12/1), Rooster Spirit (20/1), Tosie (25/1), Green Tikkana (66/1), Sophie Fatale (100/1)
While defying a penalty is always a tough call, the race won by UNCLE ALASTAIR on debut has worked out particularly well and, with opposition here looking thin on the ground, Nicky Richards' charge might prove good enough to follow-up. Witness Time is a likely improver and can battle for the minor honours with Dunly.
1. Uncle Alastair
2. Witness Time
3. Dunly
