Blatantly well-handicapped on the form of his maiden run in 2013 but only win since came in a seller and he has an absence to overcome, along with the widest draw of all and a 7lb claiming amateur having her first ride in public. Tailed off when last seen and others preferred.
Makes AW debut and has shaped like this trip will suit on occasions (not tried since juvenile career). Likely to take to this surface and jockey/trainer combo have a respectable record but percentage call say he will need this run having not been seen since Musselburgh effort in June.
Performed poorly when last seen in a hndicap and just as bad the time before in a seller. Has made no impression on three starts for this yard, at this course. Has won on the AW but that goes back almost two years and hard to fancy in current form.
Twice placed in maiden fillies events for Brian Ellison on turf, but not so effective handicapping and not much cause for optimism when last seen on this surface at Newcastle. Wide draw adds to the negatives.
Largely in good form this AW campaign and has won over C&D twice. Has struggled off this kind of mark in the past but can't be ruled out from a nice draw and one of the more likely ones to turn up and give her running.
Three wins from his last five starts but two losses in those starts came when tackling further than 7f and yard not been in the best of form lately. Jockey yet to ride a winner from 38 rides in public (two on the Flat) and others probably have better claims despite his record of three wins from three starts around here.
Respectable record on the AW and has won three times around here but probably better suited to a sharper trip and jockey is yet to place on a horse in 27 career rides so not one to get carried away with.
Interesting handicap debutante upped in trip and has shown ability on all three starts all at this course. Probably went off a little too hard last time and this trip should suit better so not one to put a line through with a jockey who has shown ability within the context of an amateur race.
Yet to win in 17 starts but has shown promise on more than one occasion. Bit of a question mark over whether she wants this trip but looks like one of the more interesting ones.
Unplaced on all seven starts to date and has a wide draw to cope with on return from an absence. Trip may prove too testing and others preferred.
Bounced back under Adam Kirby last time out and has won over this C&D four times so looks like a leading contender with the top amateur booked and the yard in form.
Unplaced on all seven starts to date and virtually tailed off on last three outings. Not been with this yard long but there's a leap of faith required to fancy her in this with jockey having his first ride in this sphere.
Capable of ruining his chance from the stalls and placed just once (in a seller) in 16 starts. Not hard to look elsewhere with the yard in poor form.
Forecasts
Gabrial The Thug (2/1), Athassel (9/4), Schottische (8/1), Champagne Freddie (8/1), Powered (11/1), Steady Major (22/1), Arcanista (25/1), Blue Jacket (25/1), The Special One (33/1), Bad Girl Caoimhe (33/1), Sublimation (33/1), Munaawib (66/1), Heart of An Angel (66/1)
Amateur races aren't always straight-forward but GABRIAL THE THUG ought to be able to back up his performance last time out with the top amateur booked. Schottische has been in good form lately and should give the selection something to think about along with Champagne Freddie who looks set to improve on handicap debut.
1. Gabrial The Thug
2. Schottische
3. Champagne Freddie
