Classy hurdler but lost his way over fences after winning two of first three chase starts. Pulled up at Cheltenham on New Year's Day (3m2f, soft) but might do better now dropped in class.
Was having first chase run since April 2015 when respectable sixth of 14 in Peter Marsh at Haydock last month. Smaller field and class drop will aid the cause. One to consider.
Won four of five starts for this trainer, making all at Newbury last time. Raised 6lb for that effort but hard to dismiss in current mood.
Good fifth in first-time blinkers at Cheltenham in November was followed by two non-completions. Needs the switch to cheekpieces to bring about improvement.
Two chase wins at Ludlow in late 2014. Not seen since modest third at same venue in 2015. Can go well when fresh, so wouldn't rule out.
Won here over shorter trip in March 2015 and having first run since when brought down last month. That may have knocked his confidence.
Good comeback run when third at Ascot in November (3m, good to soft) but pulled up at Newbury next time. Return to a right-handed track could suit and better exoected today.
Doesn't win very often but latest course third to Foxtail Hill (followed up at Cheltenham) was a decent effort. Place claims again.
Forecasts
Vyta Du Roc (15/8), Brandon Hill (9/4), Blameitalonmyroots (8/1), Cloudy Bob (8/1), Upswing (12/1), Gorsky Island (12/1), Gevrey Chambertin (14/1), Rhapando (33/1)
Plenty of these warrant consideration in an interesting race. Vyta Du Roc will appreciate the drop in class, as will Gevrey Chambertin who ran sixth in the Grade 2 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase on his return to fences last time. Blameitalonmyroots might find this right-handed track more to his liking than Newbury where he was pulled up last time and he can finish in the frame. However, all will need to be at their best to beat BRANDON HILL, winner of four of his last five starts.
1. Brandon Hill
2. Vyta Du Roc
3. Blameitalonmyroots
