Very consistent and only out of the first three one one of his eight starts (and would have gone close there but for falling at the last) and continued his progression of last season when winning on his seasonal debut at Wincanton in January, despite the trip appearing on the short side. Goes well on heavy ground, trip is fine, but handicapper has hit him with a heavy fine for that Wincanton win.
Consistent if hard to win with over hurdles, but did get off the mark in a weak maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter last summer. Well beaten at odds-on on next time, and although ran a little better than form figures would suggest on his chase debut at Market Rasen in November would suggest, still has questions to answer now.
Ought to do well over fences, so it was pleasing to see him win a couple of his hurdles starts, and he made a solid start to his chasing career when runner up at both Chepstow and Bangor. Well beaten when last seen out at Newcastle however, with little reason for the poor run (never travelled or jumped with any fluency) which is a worry. If you can forgive that, would have a chance here, with trip fine and he's likely to handle the ground.
No win in nine starts over fences but has been banging the door down, and has finished second five times. Stays really well and handles deep ground, both of which look positives here, and cheekpieces now applied after latest second in the Sussex National at Plumpton. Should get in the money again.
Interesting connections go straight into a handicap for his chasing debut today, especially as trainer's rep had said it would probably be next season before he jumped a fence (that after his Catterick win on New Years Day). Point-to-point winner and staying will be his game, it's just a question of how the heavy ground will suit (breeding gives him every chance of doing so).
Won a bumper and novice hurdle at the start of his career, but not so good over fences on his last couple of starts, with a string of mistakes blighting both his runs so far. Handles heavy ground well, and cheekpieces go on today, but can only be watched at present.

It is worth taking the hint with THE BAY OAK here, as connections were pretty adamant he wouldn't be seeing a fence until next season after his win at Catterick in January. They are wasting little time over hurdles and this point-to-point winner can score at the first attempt over fences. Wild West Wind is admirably consistent and doing little wrong at present, but this is a big weight to carry in heavy ground. Dawson City can get in the places again too.
