In terrific form at present, following up easy Hereford win (over half a mile further than today) with another facile victory at Chepstow, being produced at the last and going away on the run in ; much higher mark to cope with here, but handles heavy ground and has shown this trip is fine, so has to be given serious consideration for the hat trick.

Just the one win in 15 starts, that over hurdles at Exeter back in 2015, and a tale of woe as of late, pulling up in four of his last five races. Only the two chase starts to date so may do better, but showing little sign of doing so at present.

Won her second chase at Lingfield last week, thrashing previous winner Burgess Dream by 20 lengths and winning easily. Step up in trip seemed to bring about the improvement there, so this drop back three furlongs a slight concern, as is the fact she's sometimes finished her race off weakly (never came under pressure last week). Obvious chance if in the same form, but there are one or two questions to be answered.

Found some form in December, winning nicely at Fontwell (travelled well throughout, good ground) and then almost following up in a weak event at Towcester (good to soft), again travelling best and only going down by a neck to the unexposed Brown Bear. The big question mark here is how well he will cope with the heavy ground, given he travels so well on quicker, and despite his good form, it may be worth looking elsewhere for the winner.

Hard to win with but seems to handle a variety of trips (effective from two miles to three) and ground (has form on everything from good to firm to heavy) which at least makes him of some interest for the places as he tends to run his race, albeit at a modest level. Has seven lengths to find with Gardiners Hill on Chepstow form and although revised weights give him a chance, winner won with such ease it's hard to see him reversing the form. One for placepots.

No form over fences for some time now, and jumping technique has become a major issue to boot. Handles heavy ground, but still a very unlikely winner.

No win since 2013 and getting well beaten over both hurdles and fences over the past year. Mark in freefall but shows no sign of being able to take advantage of it.

Not disgraced when a close fifth to Fly Home Harry at Southwell in November, but that was a flash in the pan and every other run this season suggests another struggle today.

Forecasts

Gardiners Hill (15/8), Matrow's Lady (5/2), Jamrham (7/1), Edeiff's Lad (7/1), Knight Ofthe Realm (12/1), Comical Red (12/1), Raduis Bleu (16/1), Sussex Road (40/1)

Verdict

With doubts about the ground for Jamrham and the quickish turnaround for Matrow's Lady, it may be worth sticking with the in-form GARDINERS HILL, who has been given a mighty whack by the handicapper for that Chepstow win but has less question marks about him and may be able to rattle off the hat-trick. Those looking for the e/w angle should consider Edeiff's Lad, who is versatile as far as trip and ground go and may well collect some more prizemoney. 1. Gardiners Hill 2. Edeiff's Lad 3. Matrow's Lady
