Bounced right back to best form when scoring over 2m7f at Bangor in October and has followed that with two solid second-placed efforts over this C&D. No reason why he shouldn't again be competitive off the same mark.
Opened account on decent ground at Exeter last spring and yet to be disgraced since, though took a slight step backwards at Taunton last time. Handicapper has dropped him 2lb., no forlorn hope.
Turned over at short odds on quick ground at Taunton last time but had earlier looked a nice prospect when winning in decent fashion at Exeter on his hurdling bow. No surprise to see him bounce back here.
Has taken time to come to hand but better signs recently, finishing a close-up fourth on soft ground at Market Rasen last month. Still has something to find.
Both hurdle wins have come at Market Rasen and has done most of his racing there, but form elsewhere is less reliable. Better effort last time after a string of poor efforts, but others preferred all the same.
Off the mark over C&D last year but hasn't quite kicked on from there, though was a decent third at Wetherby on penultimate start. Others more persuasive right now.
Won a Bumper here last winter but yet to open hurdles account after four attempts. Soundly beaten on handicap debut at Doncaster last time and stamina queries over this longer distance.
Only win from 21 starts came in a novice hurdle event at Kelso in April 2015 but has never built on that, including over fences. Pulled up in that sphere here last time, hard to fancy.
Bits and pieces of useful form but hasn't managed to add to his sole win at Market Rasen in November 2015, and unconvincing in recent chases. Still a suspicion he is capable of better, though.
Forecasts
Bistouri D'honore (11/4), Shantou Tiger (7/2), Quieto Sol (9/2), Sammy B (13/2), Pads (11/1), Rocklim (11/1), Bowie (12/1), Calin Du Brizais (16/1), Apachee Prince (33/1)
Time may tell that Bistouri D'Honore was a blot on the handicap off an opening mark of 115, but Paul Nicholls' gelding does have questions to answer after his Taunton flop and it may pay to take him on with another southern raider in QUIETO SOL who has been given a chance by the assessor considering there is clearly improvement in him. Shantou Tiger arrives here in excellent order and looks sure to make his presence felt while any each-way value may lie with Pads or Calin Du Brizais.
1. Quieto Sol
2. Bistouri D'honore
3. Shantou Tiger
