Of limited ability with a pair of successes coming in a seller and a claimer. The stiff Newcastle seven furlongs was probably against him in a nursery in October, and he did better off a short break when third over 6f at Wolverhampton recently. However, this drop back to 5f is a concern.
Made all to land a 5f seller at Lingfield in mid December (up 4lb) but raced too freely next time in a similar Class 6 handicap. Will be vulnerable unless ridden with more restraint at this stiffer track.
Finished third of six in a 6f maiden at this track (winner 2/9f) in early January, but was comfortably beaten by Spin Top previously at Lingfield. Makes his handicap debut from a mark of 60.
Stayed on well to take a 5f median auction maiden on the Southwell Fibresand on New Years Day. An opening mark of 60 looks reasonable set against Port Master, but this filly needs to prove her versatility in terms of surface now switched to Tapeta.
A 4lb rise for a recent C&D success looks more than fair considering he was probably value for more than the length that he beat Snuggy (three of these rivals behind). Looks set to make a bold bid to follow up with previous course form appearing solid in this grade, and further scope to progress up the handicap.
Finished third to Royal Celebration on her penultimate start, and disappointed over C&D (sixth of seven) more latterly. No reason as to why she should reverse placings with Royal Celebration despite 7lb better terms. Entered at Wolverhampton (3.20pm) yesterday.
Achieved little in three runs (maidens and a claimer) prior to going handicapping. Finished fourth of seven on handicap debut behind Royal Celebration (Local Artist third) and little to suggest placings can be reversed despite meeting again on 5lb better terms. Stable hitting form, and saddled a winner here on Friday.
Eight race maiden and well held last of seven (led) over C&D last month behind Royal Celebration (Local Artist third, Little Kingdom fourth). No obvious appeal despite being dropped 3lb to a mark of 48.
Seven race maiden, and zero from three on Tapeta. Her last two starts at Wolverhampton over the course of just three days in early January imply that this drop back to 5f might well suit, and she has been dropped 4lb to a mark of 47.
Forecasts
Royal Celebration (5/2), Zandradee (11/4), Spin Top (11/2), Bismarck The Flyer (7/1), Little Kingdom (12/1), Vocalisation (14/1), Port Master (14/1), Local Artist (16/1), Flying Hope (25/1)
A race which revolves around ROYAL CELEBRATION. He has the profile of an improving horse since switching to handicap company, and he travelled well into the race last time looking full value for the length by which he defeated Snuggy. A 4lb rise appears very fair, and it's difficult to see either Local Artist, Little Kingdom or Flying Hope reversing the placings despite renewing battle on better terms.
1. Royal Celebration
2. Zandradee
3. Local Artist
