Debutant over hurdles who has won seven times on the Flat, mainly over 7f, though once over a mile, on both fast and soft ground. Currently rated 72 in that sphere, so trainer has something to work with now switching him to hurdles. Not certain to get this far, though the decent ground will help him in that regard, as will his pilot's 10lb claim.
Never previously come close to winning in five attempts over hurdles, the last of which was in November 2015. In reasonable form on the AW a couple of weeks ago (rated 53) but looks up against it here.
0-17 under rules, though did make the frame in a Plumpton novices' hurdle (2m, good to soft) in November. Others in this are better treated at the weights and the percentage call is to oppose him.
First run for this trainer since joining her from Charlie Mann, for whom he ran twice and was beaten a total of 121 lengths. Very hard to fancy.
Pulled up on both starts to date so very hard to assess what is in the locker. Has stamina on his sire's side of the pedigree, so may do better over further.
Off the mark at the twelfth time of asking under rules when landing a 2m 4f seller here last time on good to soft. Champion jockey is again booked and this gelding is far more consistent than most of this field and should again be thereabouts.
Runner-up in both starts over hurdles so far and handicapper has given him an initial mark of 112. If that is accurate and he can run to it, then he looks to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark here.
Sedgefield novices' hurdle winner two starts ago (2m 1f, good) and has been given a break since being well beaten next time. One of the more likely winners here if firing first time back.
Forecasts
Paddocks Lounge (4/5), Dusty Raven (2/1), Golan Dancer (6/1), Lucy Mc (7/1), Smoky Hill (25/1), Order Of Service (28/1), Capatosta (66/1), Catch Another (80/1)
Connections of Order Of Service could have cause for optimism over a decent start over hurdles, though preference is for Dusty Raven. Neil Mulholland's gelding has performed with merit in both starts and at the weights here he has every chance of breaking his duck. Paddocks Lounge and Lucy Mc are others likely to be in contention.
1. Dusty Raven
2. Paddocks Lounge
3. Lucy Mc
