Up 5lb for winning by the same number of lengths at Ffos Las (2m, heavy) last time. Made mistakes that day and so with a clear round a follow-up is not ruled out, though he has been beaten from this mark on several previous occasions.
Handles these conditions, though has not yet won on heavy. Good effort over C&D (good to soft) to score in a novices' handicap last month, though well beaten from 1lb higher than today next time. Not many miles on the clock and further improvement still possible.
Hails from a yard going well and with a 28% strike rate in chases at this venue. Could argue that he needs a further drop in the weights to be winning, but he is competitive from this mark.
Connections hoping that first-time cheek pieces might spark a revival here, though he was beaten from 2lb lower at Exeter in November. Has won on heavy, though backing him clearly comes with its risks.
Won with ease in similar conditions from a 7lb higher mark at Wetherby in February last year when with Venetia Williams. Been in the grip of the assessor since, but now looks on a very handy mark and with conditions and trip to suit, today may be the day to catch him.
Trip and ground ideal for this gelding who began the campaign from an 8lb higher mark. Has run with credit from today's pitch on two recent outings, though probably fighting for a place in the frame again.
Yard had a recent winner, which is encouraging and the handicapper is trying to give this runner a chance, though he may need more assistance before breaking his duck.

Although he has had a spell in the doldrums, ASTIGOS has trip and ground very much in his favour today, while he is also 7lb lower than last year's wide margin Wetherby win and with the champion jockey, he holds leading claims. Cape Caster will probably need to jump more fluently if he is to defy a rise for his Ffos Las success, while Mr Muddle is another who can fill the frame.
