More than a year since previous bumper run at Leopardstown, third behind Bacardys then, with that rival since going on to much bigger and better things. Greatly respected despite the layoff.
Good winner in sole point-to-point outing and from a yard that tends to do well in this sphere from limited resources.
Twice had to settle for second best in bumpers already, evert chance he's run into a pair of above average rivals however and not one to give up on yet.
Point-to-point winner in March but bitterly disappointing having attracted support in Tipperary bumper in May and off the track since.
Ran a promising race on debut at Punchestown last month but just a little disappointing he couldn't off more in the finish when subsequently beaten favourite in third at Leopardstown over Christmas.
Racecourse bow here for a trainer who hasn't had much luck with bumper runners of late, will need to be above average to take this.
Trainer doesn't have many bumper runners but has done well over the last 12 months with limited resources, however this fellow has a hefty task today.
Has had four goes in this sphere already, mixing good and bad efforts. Possibly not one of the trainer's stronger contenders and likely to have to settle for place money at best.
Returned from layoff with solid effort when second in point-to-point last month, has since switched yards though and isn't especially promising in this line-up.
Failed to complete in trio of point-to-point runs back in the spring, off since and very tough to see him being competitive.
Newcomer for champion trainer, gets mares allowance in this and is well bred however regular bumper rider has plumped for Drumconnor Lad instead.
Forecasts
Copper West (7/4), Drumconnor Lad (4/1), Burren Life (9/2), Borderline Chatho (5/1), Mr Showtime (10/1), For Syl (10/1), Lough Ryn (16/1), Storm In December (33/1), Karlthehoss (33/1), Johnnys Edge (33/1), Whatsinthecorner (66/1)
A few interesting contenders but perhaps none more so than the returning BORDERLINE CHATHO. He was fancied for a Leopardstown bumper 13 months ago when third behind the subsequent Aintree champion bumper winner. If he's ready to do himself justice, that looks to be a strong piece of form. Drumconnor Lad has played the bridesmaid's role on a couple of occasions already but it has been behind good horses, and it will take another strong effort to hold him off. Newcomer For Syl must of some interest given her trainer's record while Mr Showtime would fare well if fancying the job and point winner Copper West is worth a check in the market. Burren Life didn't see it out in great fashion last time but holds claims on his debut performance.
1. Borderline Chatho
2. Drumconnor Lad
3. Burren Life
