Lightly-raced Bushranger gelding who won on his debut over 7f at Ayr in August. Not quite that form in three handicaps since and was disappointing on his first run on the AW (tapeta) at Newcastle when coming back after a three month break. Has his first experience of fibresand here and is by a sire whose progeny have struggled on this surface.
Stepped up on his form in maidens when successful twice in nurseries at Newcastle and Southwell both over a mile. Raised 7lb for that last win but looked to take well to the surface and still looks to have further improvement in him off this mark.
Still a maiden after nine attempts, six of which have come on the AW although yet to try fibresand. Failed to improve for the step up to 1m2f last time and looks up against it faced with some improving types in this handicap.
Showed a huge improvement last time out on her second start in a handicap when taking a C&D nursery from a subsequent winner. First-time blinkers plus a switch to Fibresand looking to work the oracle despite being slow away and taking time to get into the race. Has shown signs of being a little quirky and much will depend on the blinkers working as well again here.
Consistent sort who got off the mark last time out at Wolverhampton over 7f. Took advantage of a drop in grade to win and the rise in the weights forces her back up in grade on a new surface against some improving types.
Forecasts
Haraka (5/4), Dream Team (5/2), Upgrade (6/1), Mia Cara (7/1), Whatsthemessage (11/1)
Three-year-old handicaps are always difficult at this time of the year although this doesn’t look that strong and the race probably lies between DREAM TEAM and Haraka both of whom have experience of this surface and are winners here. Dream Team looks to have the slightly more progressive form and to be a little more straightforward than Haraka and that earns him the nod here. Of the others Whatsthemessage needs respecting from the Dalgleish yard not least because they do well with their runners here but his sire (Bushranger) really does have a poor record on Fibresand. Mia Cara will need to improve to take a hand here but she at least has winning form although this is far tougher than her win last time out.
1. Dream Team
2. Haraka
3. Whatsthemessage
