Posed no threat in a couple of decent looking maiden hurdles so far, likely to have another limited role to fill in this contest.
2
Horse silk
1/5
Took a crashing fall at Cork on hurdles bow earlier this month. Must prove no ill-effects linger from that but is highly thought of and will take all the beating if he stands up.
4
Horse silk
66/1
Disappointed both starts in maiden hurdles last year, latest at Down Royal last month after a significant layoff.

Beaten a long way out on debut over 2m4f at Punchestown last month, drop in trip at Naas last time didn't bring change in fortune and all to prove now.
6
Horse silk
16/1
Doing all his best work at the finish when third at Killarney in May sole start to date, drops in trip here and has scope to do better.
7
Horse silk
66/1
First racecourse appearance here for a small yard with a modest strike rate over hurdles, would be a huge surprise should he take this on debut.
8
Horse silk
100/1
Newcomer for a yard that tends to do ok in this sphere but will need to be above average to win this race.
Challenge faded rapidly on Down Royal debut over hurdles last month, was in challenging position for a long time however and drops back in trip now.

100/1
Marginally better on second hurdles start at Limerick last month over this trip but never threatened to land a telling blow.
Well held both starts under rules so far, including when going hurdling for the first time at Punchestown earlier this month, never doing better than midfield.

Horse silk
66/1
Modest third in a point-to-point last month, will need to do significantly better here to stand a chance of winning.
13
Horse silk
50/1
Has had three starts over flights now and yet to display any hint that he's going to be a threat.
14
Horse silk
14/1
Second at Sligo in May in two-mile maiden hurdle puts him in the mix for this, wasn't as good over longer trip next time at Wexford but interesting on return from layoff.

Fairly consistent type on the Flat in Britain and makes for an interesting recruit to this game on first start for new trainer.

Unable to make an impact in Fairyhouse maiden hurdles at this trip either side of Christmas, up against it again now.

Mare isn't of any great appeal based on four Flat efforts, has joined a new yard ahead of jumping bow but best watched at this stage.

Verdict

It was a major relief to see the promising BON PAPA getting back to his feet after a heavy fall at Cork earlier this month. He was expected to win there and, if none the worse for his fall, will carry similar expectations now. Full of potential, he should make amends and get off the mark over flights. No Brainer has been consistent in three starts over jumps so far without necessarily looking like winning, he's likely booked to run into the minor money again here. Ex-Flat performer Monotype is a very interesting recruit to this sphere and can have a say if his jumping is in good order. Monbeg Chit Chat should be better than his debut over flights and may sustain his effort now dropping in trip. Giant Spirit needs to be taken seriously on his Sligo runner-up effort behind Let's Dance if he's fit enough coming here off a break. 1. Bon Papa 2. Giant Spirit 3. Monotype
