A fair sort in bumpers, winning by 22 lengths at Carlisle in October, and has made a solid start over timber, going close behind Elgin over 2m here in November, and keeping on strongly over that same trip when scoring at Sedgefield on Boxing Day. Penalised, and up in trip (should suit) and obvious one for the shortlist.
Placed in three starts in Irish PTP's and perhaps no surprise that he was slow to find his feet in novice hurdles for Donald McCain, but relished the step upto this trip at Kelso last time (maiden), and much respected in a stronger race.
A three time winner in PTP's who sprung a major surprise here over 2m4f last month when easily downing Dan Skelton's Listen To The Man. This longer trip is unlikely to inconvenience and she holds every chance of following up in receipt of her mares allowance from the other penalised winners.
Well beaten in three starts in novice hurdles for this yard since November, and steps up in trip here to 2m6f for the first time.
Produced a better effort last time than on either of his two previous starts over hurdles, but whilst finishing third, he was well beaten and has little chance of reversing placings with Lough Derg Jewel.
Soon beaten in both starts in bumpers which were just a couple of days apart in November, and very difficult to fancy on hurdles debut here pitched in against a trio of winning rivals.
Shown nothing in three starts over hurdles so far, and whilst entitled to have needed his recent comeback at Wetherby earlier this month, this is a tough assignment upped in trip today.
Unseated rider on hurdles debut at Kelso last month, and jumped poorly throughout when a detached and tailed off eighth of nine at Wetherby earlier this month.
Attracted some market support at Kelso just last week, but got no further than the first (stumbled and unseated rider). However, had shown reasonable placed form previously and outside of the penalised runners, looks the best of the rest in a weak race.
Completed just the once in three starts over hurdles, when fourth at odds of 150/1 behind Lough Derg Jewel and Largy Bull at Kelso last month. Impossible to imagine those placings will be reversed here.
Ex Irish, and joined Brian Ellison for just £5,000 at Ascot in December. In rear and behind from the sixth on New Years Day hurdles debut at Catterick, and whilst the step up in trip might help here, lacks experience and looks the sort for handicaps.
Forecasts
Dubai Angel (8/11), Quietly (9/2), Catchamat (5/1), Lough Derg Jewel (5/1), Largy Bull (18/1), Sun Spider (50/1), Nailer (100/1), Eager To Know (200/1), Our Morris (200/1), Rocku (200/1), Onlyfoolsownhorses (200/1)
This rests between DUBAI ANGEL, Catchamat and Lough Derg Jewel. This is a marked step up in trip for Dubai Angel, but he has looked as if this sort of test would suit him well, and he doesn't meet any rivals with the ability of Elgin here. He appeared to not want for stamina when galloping his rivals into submission up the Carlisle hill on his final start in bumpers, and with slight reservations as to what exactly Lough Derg Jewel beat last time at Kelso, it could be the recent course winner Catchamat that gives this exciting Malcolm Jefferson trained youngster the most to do.
1. Dubai Angel
2. Catchamat
3. Lough Derg Jewel
