Fitted with a hood for his debut (at Wolverhampton) and looked badly in need of the experience, slowly away and pulling hard. In the end the sixth that he finished was better than it looked and there should be better to come if he takes to this surface (sire has a good record on fibresand).

Kalanisi gelding who is a brother to several winners; sire not had a winner at the track in the past five years (just five runners). Badly needed the experience when well beaten on debut at Chelmsford and this surface will prove a new experience.

Still a maiden after six attempts, the last three in handicaps (reverts to maidens here) and has run his last two races here at Southwell. Most of his efforts have been modest and even blinkers for the first-time on his last start couldn't bring about much improvement.

Yard are quite successful here (good strike-rate with first time runners on the surface) and this half sister to several winners showed ability on her debut at Wolverhampton. Made some late headway to finish seventh over 7f and looks as though she will improve over this mile trip with that experience behind her.

Fairly modest form in three maidens but looked to take a step forward last time out on her handicap debut over 7f. Will be suited by this step back to a mile and has shown that she can handle the surface.

Sire has a modest strike-rate on the surface but she took a step forward from her Newmarket debut when third on AW debut at Chelmsford last time out. There's a chance if she takes to this surface, she is capable of further improvement here.

Forecasts

Mirimar (7/4), Alfolk (9/4), Miss Osier (4/1), Log Off (6/1), Bonnie Gals (10/1), Flooded (14/1), Stag Party (33/1)

Verdict

Hardly any form on this surface to take into account here and that alone makes it a risky betting proposition. Miss Osier certainly has the form to take a race like this based on her second last time out but the surface is an unknown. The same could be said of Alfolk who is likely to improve on his debut at Wolverhampton although his sire does have a fair record on it. Both Stag Party and Log Off have experience here but will surely be better in handicaps. This might be best left to BONNIE GALS from a yard that have a good record with their first-time runners at the course and showed up well on her first run at Wolverhampton. 1. Bonnie Gals 2. Miss Osier 3. Alfolk
