Has a good record from point-to-points and posted a solid effort back in more conventional company at Fontwell earlier this month. He is mainly consistent and acts on any ground. Fairly treated in the weights just now as well - solid claims at this level.

On a feasibly good mark and is better than his recent form figures (or letters) would have you believe. Is a previous C&D winner so can be assured to cope with the track. Heavy ground would be a concern though.

Lightly raced since winning here a couple of seasons ago - he won't mind the conditions and gets this trip well. His latest effort was just a fair performance, though and didn't really leave the impression that his turn is just around the corner.

Likes to make the running and went very close here last time out. But for his rider losing his irons near the finish, he may have been returning here on a stiffer mark. As it is he has a chance at the weights and is certainly one to bear in mind.

Another with a feasible chance on these terms but has been a tad below his best of late and now has a bit to prove.

Unexposed over fences and won here in the style of an improver at the New Year's meeting. An 8lb high mark obviously makes things tougher for him on this occasion, though. And he now needs to post a career best effort if he is going to follow up today.

Hard to fancy on recent form. The blinkers are back on today, which may have an impact. But he hasn't seen the winners' enclosure since December 2013 and is a risky proposition despite being a full stone lower in the weights.

Goes well fresh and has no doubts about handling the trip or ground. He is high enough in the weights for what he has achieved in the past so the betting market made be the best gauge towards his chances today.

Won a point-to-point at Andoversford back in April and has been kept ticking over since then. He is a solid jumper with a good record for win and place money. Nicely weighted for a race of this nature and cannot confidently be ruled out over a trip that suits him ideally.

An expensive purchase for a yard that has enjoyed an unprecedented run this season. This fellow ran well for a long way at Lingfield when he was last seen out but it's noteworthy that, after being tried with a tongue tie and then cheekpieces, all the appliances have been dispensed with this time around. He may not be the most straightforward character but stays well and is respected on the form of his yard alone.

Forecasts

Grand Gold (11/4), Leg Lock Luke (5/1), Dance Floor King (6/1), Only Gorgeous (7/1), Ray Diamond (9/1), Crown Hill (10/1), Tolkeins Tango (12/1), Last Shot (12/1), Headly's Bridge (14/1), Starkie (14/1), Winston Churchill (14/1)

Verdict

This is a very tricky handicap and not too many can be scrubbed from the list. Ray Diamond and Crown Hill appeal from those at the bottom of the racecard, while Grand Gold is another who can make a good fist of things in spite of being shouldered with topweight. However, a tentative nod of prefer is given to DANCE FLOOR KING, who proved his well being with a solid effort last time out and has plenty on his favour in his bid to gain compensation for a near miss over course and distance. 1. Dance Floor King 2. Ray Diamond 3. Crown Hill
