Useful on the Flat for Ralph Beckett but started to lose his way. He made a modest start over hurdles over C&D at the start of this month and may need simply more time to adapt to his new career.
Tailed off on his hurdles debut at Hereford earlier this month so obviously has a bit to prove. He made all on his only winning effort during his time in France and already looked a frustrating character by the time came across the channel to join David Pipe. That said, there is a family tradition of transforming this type of individual, so the betting market may provide the best indication as to whether the Pipe dream can become a reality with this fellow.
Showed up well on his debut in a bumper at Ascot last November, and then ran a fair race on his hurdles debut despite jumping out to the left. Sure to have been put through his paces at home since then, a better effort would see him go very close in this company.
Very difficult to enthuse about anything he has shown in two outings over hurdles. The fact he finished last of nine on his debut in a bumper is also enough of a red light to give this fellow a swerve from the betting angle today.
An interesting contender from the Flat who wouldn't need to be anything special to make an impact here. His yard has been quite of late but he is still worth noting for signs of support.
Came up against a trio of likely types from Nicky Henderson's yard on his debut and time may tell the he did well to keep tabs with them for a long way. He tired near the finish of that Newbury race but should have still benefitted from the run. A bold show can be expected.
Showed a very good attitude when landing a bumper here at the start of this month. He is an interesting recruit from the Irish pointing fields and can only go on from here. A leading contender today.
Only moderate improvement made from his outings over hurdles. Lacks the scope held by a few of the rest.
A compact and diminutive individual, he wore earplugs when getting off the mark in a bumper at Ludlow and was suited by the tight turns of the course. Not disgraced in two outings over hurdles since, he seems sure to be paying his way again before too long. May not want the ground to be too soft though.
Needs to show a lot more today after a very modest display at Wincanton on Boxing Day. Admittedly, he'd been off the track for quite some time but his previous form was nothing special either - one to be wary of here.
Rated only 47 at his best on the Flat and seems destined for a similarly unspectacular assessment in the winter game. He improved a tad last time out but not enough to merit more than a cursory look in the betting.
She won a bumper in game style on her debut at Doncaster before acquitting herself well in two similar heats towards the back end of last season. However, she has failed to build on those efforts now she has switched to hurdling and is not too difficult to overlook just for now.
Lost his way on the Flat and showed nothing on his debut over hurdles at Newbury to suggest his enthusiasm has been rekindled by switching codes.
Forecasts
Mr Clarkson (15/8), Ridgeway Flyer (5/2), Cigarisi (5/2), Mansion (12/1), Argus (16/1), Rebel Beat (33/1), Kristjano (40/1), Meribel Millie (66/1), Arkadios (66/1), Bel Esprit (150/1), Top Of The Rocks (250/1), Brean Golf Birdie (250/1), Inthenicoftime (250/1)
Only a handful make appeal for a punt in the opener, with CIGARISI edging the nomination ahead of Mr Clarkson and Mansion, who both represent powerful yards and can be placed top good effect from here.
1. Cigarisi
2. Mr Clarkson
3. Mansion
