All wins have been on soft or heavy ground, including two novices' hurdles here. Stayed on strongly to win by a healthy margin at Hexham last time on his chase debut and no reason why he shouldn't progress further here, though does have to shoulder a penalty.
Placed in two our of four chase starts in Ireland. Handles these conditions, though no obvious reason for the drop back to this trip. Interesting that his jockey, who rode the top weight to victory last time, takes this mount today.
Heavy ground Carlisle novices' hurdle winner who twice made the frame back at that venue last spring. Seemed to need the run on his chase debut and should be better for that experience this time.
Formerly with both Donald McCain and Oliver Sherwood who has now had three runs for Gordon Elliott. Looked a little unlucky to come down at Navan two starts ago over hurdles, though it is his lack of fluency over fences from three previous attempts in 2015 that is a cause for greater concern.
Third from a mark of 143 in a hot Grade Three handicap hurdle at Aintree's Grand National meeting last year, though has thus far failed to show that same ability in two placed chase outings. Major yard not red hot at present and, while he may prove good enough, he does not look one to be taking too short-a-price about.
Carlisle and Kelso hurdles winner who has run well enough in two novices' chases. May have made the frame for a second time at Catterick when tried over three last time but for falling. No obvious reason why this drop back to the minimum trip should produce a major upturn in fortunes.

The sort of race where you can pick holes in most of them. STARCHITECT looks to be the one on paper in the hope that he can begin to show something like his ability over hurdles, which was easily the best of these. Clan Legend did nothing wrong last time and even with his penalty he can still take a close hand, while Brian Hughes is an interesting booking for Aminabad, who if ridden with different tactics may make an impact.
