Winner of a Point To Point in October, before his current trainer went to £75,000 to secure him at the sales in November. Obliged at the first time of asking in a Uttoxeter bumper last month and interesting that connections opt to go straight back over obstacles. Bred to stay and this step up in trip should therefore be a positive.
Last of 11 runners at Perth in April 2014 is the only one of three races that he has completed. Failed to sparkle on return after a 33-month absence at this venue last time and best watched at present.
Cost 46,000 Euros as a three-year-old and began to repay some of that when landing a Carlisle bumper on his second start. Put up a good effort in a decent novices' contest at Wetherby last time on his hurdling debut. Conditions should hold no fears and he should be a major player.
Three bumpers and three hurdles starts have seen him beaten a cumulative total of 266 lengths and much more needed before we can recommend siding with him.
Showed some improvement from his first bumper run to his second, finishing just over two lengths behind the winner in third on the most recent of those at this track. Handles these conditions well enough and should be able to progress further, though will have his work cut out to be winning this.
Forecasts
De Dollar Man (10/11), Just Minded (11/10), Trongate (14/1), Spirit Of Hale (40/1), Firth Of Bavard (300/1)
A small field, perhaps on account of the heavy ground, and we will side with JUST MINDED to confirm the promise of his recent Wetherby run over hurdles, with that experience and the good form of the Sue Smith stable getting him the nod. De Dollar Man looks an obvious main danger and will jump a hurdle in public for the first time here. He clearly has some ability and would be no surprise winner, though the yard could be going a little better. Trongate looks best of the remainder.
