Dual bumper winner who defied a penalty to score over course and distance last time. Now has to concede 10lb to the field, but should give a very good account in trying to do so.

Nice enough pedigree, though changed hands for only 9,000 Euros as a foal. Good pilot booked, which will do her cause no harm and a market check is advised.

Beaten a distance behind Shearling here in December, but should improve for that experience and on pedigree this bare minimum trip ought to suit.

Very interesting contender who makes the trip from her Dorset yard with some optimism, having just been touched off on debut and in receipt of weight from a dual winner. Yard has a 43 per cent strike rate here and this is its first bumper runner at the track.

Another who succumbed to Shearling here last month and despite the yard's good form, it has enjoyed only one winner in this sphere from 70 attempts in recent seasons, so it is likely that there is better to come over obstacles.
Good pedigree, being by an excellent jumps sire, though likely to come into her own with a greater test of stamina. Trainer has had one winner from just two runners this year and still relatively recent since she was granted a licence, so a market check is advised.
Pedigree suggests that this trip will be a nice enough start for this newcomer, who hails from a yard who strike rate in this sphere is better at this track than at most others.

9,000 Euros purchase last summer by a trainer who has had three winners from just 11 runners in bumpers here. Market confidence would probably be significant.

11/4
Nice enough pedigree, being by top stayer Milan out of an unraced Polar Falcon mare. Stable's first runner of the calendar year and has had just two bumper winners from 30 runners in the past five seasons. However, a very interesting jockey booking and market must be watched closely for further clues.

20/1
Nayef filly out of a Galileo mare, though that failed to set the sales ring alight last month. Prepared by top Northern Flat yard although perhaps best watched first time.

Forecasts

Shearling (11/4), Cockney Wren (11/4), Perfect Moment (11/4), Mercian Princess (6/1), Avealittlepatience (10/1), Trap Queen (20/1), Mountain Path (25/1), Northern Girl (33/1), Green Tikkana (100/1), Ay Up Mrs (200/1)

Verdict

Shearling has impressed in both wins to date and despite conceding 10lb to all her opponents, she should again be in the shake-up. However, preference is for Cockney Wren. Harry Fry's filly showed plenty in the context of this race when making her debut at Taunton and she can go one better this time. There are several others of interest, including Mercian Princess and Avealittlepatience and given that Graham Lee dropped by at the track last week to land a gamble in a similar contest, any support for his mount Perfect Moment is likely to be significant. 1. Cockney Wren 2. Shearling 3. Perfect Moment
