Two runs this term haven't shown much in the way of enthusiasm, continues to come down in the ratings but plenty on to be competitive here.
Busy end to 2016, running eight times in a variety of disciplines without ever threatening victory. Not the most obvious contender right now.
First run for new yard and has been running well in sellers over the winter, winning twice. Current rating gives him a chance now back handicapping.
Fair effort on return from layoff at Fontwell last month when entitled to need the run, one to do better on the back of that effort.
Always runs his race and has become a consistent performer without winning. Some worries that he'll find one too good again and up in the ratings once more for runner-up finish latest.
Has won twice over timber in selling/claiming company but generally struggling recently, including New Year's Day when back-pedalling late over 2m4f. Drops in trip now.
Initial effort at Wincanton this term was promising but disappointing subsequently, including at Fontwell latest when behind Political Quiz.
Lightly raced nine-year-old has clearly had his problems, weakened on return over 2m3f latest at Fontwell but close to previous winning mark now and drop in trip should be ok.
Bit keen and possibly doing too much in front when sent off favourite on sole start for previous trainer in August. Changed yards and off since, will need to settle and retain some energy for the finish.
Satisfactory return at Haydock last month on first start since April, drops 5lbs and can do better with that run behind him.
Modest form on the Flat and surprise winner of Leicester seller in May 2015. Hasn't shown a great deal either side of recent layoff to warrant recommending here.
By no means a consistent performer but two recent efforts have been decent, including Plumpton third ten days ago off this mark.
Forecasts
Un Prophete (9/4), Political Quiz (9/2), Thatchers Gold (7/1), Hollywood All Star (15/2), Restraint of Trade (10/1), Orthodox Lad (11/1), Trapper Peak (14/1), Edward Elgar (16/1), Honey Pound (25/1), Benbecula (25/1), Miss Benefitz (33/1), Clock On Tom (50/1)
Miss Benefitz did a bit too much out in front on her previous start at Southwell but can go well for new yard now if settling better. Un Prophete has been consistent but is expensive enough to follow at this stage and has yet to convince he'll complete the job. Hollywood All Star ran respectably at Haydock mast month and should strip fitter here but the vote goes to POLITICAL QUIZ after a promising return to action at Fontwell last month. He's on a workable mark and has a good man on his back once more this afternoon.
1. Political Quiz
2. Un Prophete
3. Miss Benefitz
