Top-rated (142), despite never having won in England over hurdles. However, a number of good runner up efforts to his name over timber, and made all to score on chasing debut at Market Rasen in August. Highly tried since, and seemingly has learned to settle on last two starts and obvious contender.
A two time winner over hurdles including decisively at this track off a mark of 130 in January last year. However, failed to complete on both starts over fences, including getting no further than the first last time at Ludlow.
Ex Irish (Enda Bolger), and left a distant second of three on chase (& stable) debut at Ludlow in November. Well beaten next time back over hurdles and much more needed here.
Exciting sort in bumpers and during novice hurdle campaign, and a winner of Huntingdon's Listed Sidney Banks hurdle in February 2016. Not quite reached those peaks since in handicaps and probably capable of better than both showings over fences so far. Cheek-pieces could help.
A winner on the Flat in France, and of a maiden and a handicap hurdle (both over shorter) at Kempton and Ascot during 2015. Highly tried on chase debut, and let down by his fencing on second start over the larger obstacles over C&D last time.
Earned a BHA rating of 135 after landing a novices hurdles at Market Rasen last April, which probably forced connections hand to go chasing. Promise on chasing debut despite jumping right at Huntingdon, but more to find on balance stepping upto this trip for the first time.
Forecasts
Hammersly Lake (11/10), Ma du Fou (3/1), Querry Horse (11/2), Cyrius Moriviere (15/2), Winner Massagot (22/1), Lofgren (28/1)
Most of these are inexperienced over fences, and connections of Ma du Fou, will be hoping that cheek-pieces help this seven-year-old recapture the best of his novice hurdle form. HAMMERSLY LAKE was the top-rated of this field over hurdles, and boasts the most experience over fences, so seems the most logical selection, especially now seemingly having learned to settle better than previously (held up on last two starts).
1. Hammersly Lake
2. Ma du Fou
3. Cyrius Moriviere
