Impressive winner at Newbury last term and that form has worked out. Excuses can be made for his two defeats since and not without a chance despite topping the handicap.
Rarely runs two races alike but has dropped to an attractive mark judged on last season's form. Due a big run and one to note in the market for shrewd yard.
French form does not amount to a great deal but he created a favourable impression when scoring at Southwell. The third has won since so every chance he can defy the handicapper.
Has had obvious training problems but arrives here with the benefit of his best effort over fences last time. That run will put him spot on for this and his hurdling form suggests he is on a very good mark. Stable in form.
Has looked well below the form he showed in Ireland and has a lot to find with Atirelarigo on running last time.
Returned to action after a two year absence only to be pulled up over hurdles at Carlisle. That effort and a further two month absence raise concerns with the yard finding winners hard to come by.
Rewarded a patient ride to beat an in form rival last time with the pair finishing well clear. Still needs to brush up his jumping but has obvious claims with further improvement likely for top yard and jockey.
It has taken almost two years for him to drop to his last winning mark. Showed some promise on his debut for new yard but has disappointed in both starts since.
French form suggests the softer the ground the better. 100/1 and always behind on debut for yard after a year's absence. Needs to improve considerably for the benefit of that run.
Makes limited appeal on his recent efforts. Would have a chance if back to his best for in form yard.
Jumped poorly on his chasing debut last time. This represents an ever stiffer test of jumping skills.
A winner over C&D last season off a higher mark. Struggled on faster ground subsequently and may have needed his reappearance. Likely to thereabouts.
Looks a bit one paced nowadays and would appreciate testing conditions. Rarely runs a bad race around here and rider is good value for his 10lb claim but others make more appeal.
Winner of three races in the spring and not disgraced in better company since. Still looks high enough in the weights and yard are having a quiet season.
Forecasts
Mercian Prince (7/2), Atirelarigo (5/1), Marcilhac (11/2), Mystifiable (15/2), Morning Reggie (8/1), Gores Island (9/1), Daveron (9/1), All Together (14/1), Ballycoe (16/1), Sergeant Mattie (25/1), Speredek (33/1), King Of The Wolds (40/1), Fort Smith (50/1), Kingston (100/1)
Most of these have questions to answer and marginal preference is for MORNING REGGIE who showed guts to win here last season and who can be forgiven his subsequent efforts. Off a good mark and with favourable conditions he is taken to beat Marcilhac who is probably better than he has shown so far. His yard are hitting form at a time of the year when historically they have done well. Mercian Prince represents an in form yard and despite a hefty rise in the weights he looks to have the improvement in him to run a big race here.
1. Morning Reggie
2. Marcilhac
3. Mercian Prince
