Hurdles winner in France, and rated in the high 130's in that sphere. Just two starts over fences so far, the first of which was a comfortable winning debut at Towcester in November, and lost little in defeat here last time when beaten by an exciting prospect. With experience of the track and likely conditions, looks the one to beat.
Not really progressed as quickly as expected after promising start to his career, but to his credit has been relatively highly tried. No chance with talented rival on chase debut at Carlisle in October (second), but keen and lost all chance after significant error at the fifth over this C&D in mid November. Needs to leave that disappointing effort behind him against two potentially useful rivals.
A three time winner from 18 starts over hurdles, earning a rating around the 130 mark. Makes chasing debut here, having finished ninth of 12 on most recent start (over much further) at Cheltenham last month. Might not want ground to deteriorate any further than Soft.
Forecasts
Forest Bihan (1/2), Chidswell (3/1), L'aigle Royal (11/2)
FOREST BIHAN brings a very reasonable level of C&D form into this disappointingly small field contest. Although carrying a penalty for his debut success at Towcester, this six-year-old has impressed over fences, and time is likely to tell that his recent C&D second to Waiting Patiently will be the strongest of Northern novice chase form. He has a little in hand of the others on his official hurdles rating, both of whom have questions to answer (chase debut, and a moderate round of fencing over C&D to overcome). He's the solid option, both for today, and for going forward.
1. Forest Bihan
2. L'aigle Royal
3. Chidswell
