Just three starts behind him so far and appeared to find 1m2f stretching his stamina at Chelmsford having threatened at the furlong pole. Could be more to come.
Still a maiden after 14 starts, he ran his best race when second at Chelmsford in November but disappointed back there last month and is now back at the drawing board.
Never a factor over the mile at Chelmsford last month on second AW start and will do well to turn that around now.
Failed to see out the job over 1m1f at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day and drops back here but not favoured by the weights.
Knocking on the door recently, including when runner-up over C&D on New Year's Day, gets another chance to score before the handicapper has his say.
Yet to threaten the judge in five starts on AW and once more the odds are stacked against him.
Veteran got his 15th AW success here before Christmas and didn't disgrace himself back over the mile on New Year's Day, entitled to his chance on current terms.
Ninth of 12 here last week, but beaten less than four-lengths on second start for this trainer. Couple of today's rivals hold him on that run but not completely written off yet.

PLAYFUL DUDE has been threatening to get off the mark recently and he can finally see it out now. The veteran General Tufto was not disgraced in his follow up attempt here on New Year's Day and can go well again while Desert Chief isn't without hope having done well for new connections in two starts. Lightly raced Einstein drops in trip and could be involved in the shake-up.
1. Playful Dude
2. Desert Chief
3. Einstein
