Dual course winner whose last two wins have both come here one over C&D although he hasn't been successful since winning here over 2f shorter in February off a 1lb higher mark. Ran a respectable race on a return from a break last time out when he needed a stronger gallop at Lingfield behind two progressive sorts.
Three-time winner on the AW (last three wins have all come on a synthetic surface) but hasn't won since successful here in November 2015 over 1m6f. Losing run starting to stack up now and still 5lb above his last winning mark but another who needs a strongly run race.
Has some useful form to his name but hasn't won since December 2015 and all his winning form is over much shorter than this. Steps up 6f in distance here after running well below form last time out on his first run for his new yard.
Came back from a long absence last time out to run a respectable sixth over 12f at Lingfield in a race where he had the run of things. Has tried this trip before and it just appears to stretch him and he faces some stronger stayers here.
Has run some good races of late but failed to end what is a long losing run when third at Newcastle last time out. Had previously run a sound second here over C&D but as usual found less than seemed likely after travelling well.
Improving sort who has won his last two for his new yard and scored on his AW (fibresand) debut last time out at Southwell travelling strongly and winning easily. Faces a new surface here but should be able to handle it and continue his progression with the yard in good form.
Useful filly who has scored four times on the AW three times at Chelmsford (all at shorter trips than today) the latest win coming in November off a mark of 67. Not disgraced last time out in a similar grade to this but is still eligible for easier contests than this.
Last four flat runs have all come at Chelmsford with three at today's trip and managed to win in September in a small field affair off a mark of 57. Now 9lb above that mark and up in class here this will prove a tougher test that his other outings at this track.
Forecasts
Percy Veer (10/3), Western Prince (10/3), Aldreth (7/2), Cotton Club (5/1), Bracken Brae (8/1), Excellent Puck (12/1), Modernism (12/1), Free Bounty (20/1)
Another change of surface for the progressive WESTERN PRINCE but he still looks on the right side of the handicapper and faces mostly exposed types here as he bids to land a three-timer. Aldreth always runs a sound race in these sorts of contests and he’s hard to leave out of calculations although his finishing effort can be a little weak at times. Percy Veer is another whose losing run is starting to get a little worrying but if he gets some pace to run at he could prove dangerous here.
1. Western Prince
2. Aldreth
3. Percy Veer
