Represents powerful connections and holds some of his main rivals on bumper form, no surprise to see Paul Nicholls' charge going strong at the end.
Made a promising start in Southwell bumper in May but didn't build on it and now returning from long break for hurdling bow.
Big price on hurdles bow last week, didn't get beyond the first flight. That clearly not his fault but unlikely to get off the mark in this race.
Not much to recommend on point form and looks sure to appreciate the experience on rules debut.
Can boast experience of jumping in public in a pair of novice hurdles recently but didn't suggest any great ability in either run.
Comes back from a break for first start over jumps. Not much in his bumper form that would encourage supporting him here.
Grabbed minor money in Uttoxeter maiden last month, good way behind odds-on winner. Some promise there and definitely one for the shortlist today.
Perhaps more was expected on rules bow at Uttoxeter last month when only fourth. No waiting around and gets stuck into hurdles now but will need to improve.
Only fair form in two bumper rans at Towcester this term and will have to produce a career-best to get off the mark now.
Favourite for Cheltenham bumper won by Brahms De Clermont in October, that run too bad to be true and powerful trainer will be hoping for more here.
Didn't show much on return to action at this venue last month, the eight-year-old isn't one to be supporting in a potentially warm event.
Underwhelming effort in Aintree bumper in May when last seen, unseated on sole start previously. Leaves him with enough to prove here.
Didn't go well on first start for this yard in Worcester bumper in June, but Ben Pauling's hurdlers are flying recently and he should know his job today.
Sent off 150/1 for hurdling bow recently, tailed-off before being pulled up. Impossible to recommend a dramatic turnaround here.
Has a bit to find with Brahms De Clermont on their bumper form but wouldn't be the biggest surprise if he at least closes the gap now the obstacles are in the way.
Showed some promise when making his jumping bow over C&D last month but will need to come forward significantly to have a say in this race.
Forecasts
Brahms De Clermont (11/8), Melrose Boy (11/4), River Wylde (3/1), Monbeg Oscar (14/1), Uncle Percy (14/1), Woodfort (20/1), Yorgonnahearmeroar (50/1), Otter Moon (50/1), Triopas (80/1), Crack Du Tay (100/1), Hurricane Hunter (125/1), Seymour Star (150/1), Le Coeur Net (150/1), Max Dynamo (200/1), Whispering Nick (200/1), Dennis Our Menace (200/1)
The champion trainer looks to have found an ideal spot for BRAHMS DE CLERMONT to begin his career over hurdles. He holds some of his rivals on known bumper form and will be expected to open his account. The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Woodfort was no match for the selection at Cheltenham but can close the gap here. Harry Fry's Melrose Bay is another one worth keeping an eye on.
1. Brahms De Clermont
2. Woodfort
3. Melrose Boy
