15:04 Nottingham - Hospitality At Nottingham Racecourse Handicap 1m2f
After a short spell with Ed Bethell this summer, Rogue Millions is back with his former trainer, James Owen, and he shaped well enough on his first run back for Owen at Yarmouth last month to think his turn might not be far away again.
He finished a close fifth, beaten three lengths and perhaps unsurprisingly, for one that won over 11f at Carlisle last year, was doing all of his best work late in a race that wasn’t really run to suit, with winner and second ridden much more prominently. An extra furlong today can only help, as can a bit of rain due on Tuesday, and he looks sure to get the solid gallop he needs, with two or three front-runners in the field.
15:39 Nottingham - Colwick Cup Handicap 2m
ROCK N ROLL PINKIE has been dropped 4lb below her last winning mark and showed clear signs of a revival at York last month in a race that she had won 12 months previously, typically travelling well at the back of the field but given too much to do in a race that turned into a bit of a sprint in the straight. That 5l 5th of 12 to Moon Chime is a strong piece of form at this level, with the winner set to go close in a valuable hurdle at Chepstow recently but for a last-flight fall when leading, while High Fibre, second at York, went on to be fourth in the Cesarewitch.
A previous C&D winner, Rock N Roll Pinkie needs a good pace to run at and is a bit of a hostage to fortune given her run style, but hinted strongly last time that her turn was near, and is worth siding with again.
13:45 Ffos Las - Ethical Packaging Novices Handicap Chase 3m
BABATUNDE got a mention on sister column Away From The Spotlight on Monday as one that’s surely in front of his mark of 95, but the big question today is whether he’s going to be fit after missing the majority of 2025 and 2026, not seen out since finishing second at Taunton almost 20 months ago. He didn’t see out three miles on his one try at it previously, but was quite keen that day and after travelling well, faded late. He’s worth persevering with at this trip, the dam a half-sister to the classy Mariah Rollins, and whatever he does today, is one for the tracker.
17:13 Ffos Las - Enigma Flooring Handicap Chase 3m4f
The lucky last at Ffos Las is a marathon handicap chase, on ground that will have been well opened up, and staying will very much be the game.
Gingerbred jumps off the page a bit here. Formerly with Philip Hobba and Johnson White, he spent last year in the care of Carroll Grey and whilst he didn’t get his head in front, he did hit the frame a few times and looked to have retained his ability. He starts this season 10lb lower and has joined Joe Tizzard, who has his horses well forward at the start of the season. It’s also worth pointing out that he’s a Ffos Las winner over three miles in heavy ground, so he’ll not care how much rain falls Tuesday, and there’s every expectation he’ll be ready to go on his first start for his new yard.
