Saturday is an incredibly busy day and we pinpoint where the top jockeys will be in action up and down the UK and Ireland.

Silvestre de Sousa - Seven rides at Ascot

Currently miles clear in the Flat Jockeys’ Championship, the most productive freelance is in obvious demand and has seven rides for six different trainers. Early betting forecasts suggest it is not the strongest book with no clear-cut chance but still hard to rule him out getting on the scoresheet at some stage in proceedings. SDS won’t be resting on his laurels either as he heads for Salisbury afterwards to take in the evening action.

Ryan Moore - Seven rides at Newmarket

The day’s biggest meeting has the world’s best rider in attendance with a full book to get his teeth stuck into. Caravaggio forms the centrepiece in the Darley July Cup as the Ballydoyle speedster bids to keep up his 100 percent record against some in-form older sprinters. Moore will be disappointed, and I would be surprised, if he finished the day empty handed.

Jim Crowley - Six rides at Newmarket

It is a home fixture for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s retained rider with four of his six mounts taken in the famous blue and white silks. Confidence seems high within the camp that Tasleet can reverse form with his recent Royal Ascot conquerors while Tashweeq is his choice from two options in the Bunbury Cup. One Second for Mark Johnston in the opening maiden could get him off to a fast start.

Paul Hanagan - Five rides at Newmarket

It is five rides at HQ for Hanagan, four of them provided by Richard Fahey to go with a juvenile debutant from Mick Channon called Tricksy Spirit. The exciting Great Prospector takes a big step in grade for the Musley Bank team but could be anything and let’s hope Growl in the July Cup is on best behaviour having unshipped his jockey exiting the stalls at Royal Ascot.

Fran Berry - Five rides at Chester

Our very own Sportinglife columnist makes the journey up to the Roodee for five rides. He is a freelance rider now and that is highlighted with all his mounts being for a different trainer. The pick is perhaps the Charlie Hills-handled Jallota over an ideal trip of seven furlongs from a handy low draw. You can read Fran's latest blog here.

James Doyle - Six rides at York

The Doyler will ride two of his six booked mounts for main employer Godolphin but one of the most consisitent performers in the weighing room is clearly not going cap in hand when it comes to outside rides. It will be fascinating to see if he can get a decent tune out of the speedy Cotai Glory, who takes a big drop in class to contest the Listed sprint.

Andrea Atzeni - Five rides at York

Roger Varian's Barsanti is the obvious one to lure Atzeni up to the Knavesmire following his excellent second at Royal Ascot in the Hardwicke Stakes. He drops in grade while UAE Prince for the same stable should have more to come in the John Smith's Cup. There was a good 1970s US detective series called The Rockford Files and main charcter Jim Rockford now gets the Atzeni treatment in the nursery.

Frankie Dettori - Curragh

The Italian is easing his way back into action after a nasty shoulder injury ruled him out of Royal Ascot. Who can blame him going for quality over quantity as he jets out to renew his partnership with Investec Oaks winner Enable, who is odds-on to double up in the Irish equivalent.
