The racing continues thick and fast on Monday and top commentator Simon Holt has two unmissable bets at Haydock and Lingfield Park.
Newmarket trainer William Haggas has been a good friend to this column over the years and is fancied to strike across two meetings on Monday starting off with DANCIN INTHESTREET in the second division (1.45) of the Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap at Haydock.
The daughter of Muhaarar didn't make her debut until November when showing plenty of speed before being left behind by the John Gosden-trained Heiress in the final furlong on soft ground at Newmarket (7f) and shouldn't be inconvenienced by the rain-affected surface in Lancashire.
Switched to the all-weather and dropped to six furlongs, she made all in decisive fashion at Lingfield three weeks later and then wasn't disgraced when upped in class at Wolverhampton (also 6f) finishing fifth after holding every chance a furlong out behind Maystar in a conditions contest.
Dancin inthestreet could be very well handicapped on that last performance off a rating of 78 as Maystar is now rated 97 after winning in Doha and finishing second in a Listed race at Chantilly while third-placed Auchterarder (now 92) won next time at Lingfield, Raaeb (fourth and now 97) ran second to Malotru in a Listed race at Lingfield and sixth placed Kondratiev Wave (91) was touched off in the last stride at Lingfield last Friday.
Moreover, the filly showed ample pace to be in the firing line in the early stages that day suggesting that this drop to five furlongs should be no problem, and Cieron Fallon's 3lb claim is an added bonus.
Haggas can strike again at Lingfield's evening fixture with the imposing DESERT CARAVAN in the Betway Handicap at 7.20.
Owned by The Queen, this well-bred gelding has won both his starts so far at Newcastle and Wolverhampton, on the latter occasion powering home over an extended mile to beat the Godolphin newcomer White Mountain with the next-time winner Bridgewater Bay back in third.
Desert Caravan was going clear quite impressively at the line that day and, while a son of the sprinter Oasis Dream, his dam Sequence (a half sister to the Derby winner Sinndar) was a smart performer at a mile and a half finishing second at Listed level. He looks to be crying out for this step up to a similar trip and should have a bright future.
