We wouldn’t have given WE DARE TO DREAM a second look here but for the addition of a tongue-tie, which suddenly makes him look a lot more interesting.
He didn’t start his season until the start of October, having been off a year, and in truth has shown very little in either run back. That’s seen him drop 7lb, not enough on its own to make him of interest, but he’s now tried in a tongue-tie and David O’Meara’s record this year when utilising a tongue tie for the first time reads 12211731379, the four winners at 12/1, 11/1, 8/1 and 6/4. Essentially, we’re backing We Dare To Dream purely on the stats and hoping the tongue tied helps him rediscover his 2025 form. He’s now 7lb below his last winning mark and clearly well handicapped if the key can be found.

Plenty of these can be given a squeak and the race has produced a shock result or two in its recent history with plenty of fillies going over the top in November and a few blossoming after moderate summers. The one who looks to have most in her favour is REVOIR, who represents the stable with the best record in the race, with Ralph Beckett successful in four of the last 16 runnings.
Revoir also has an excellent record in Listed company, finishing second on five of her eight starts at this level, and she very nearly won a Group 3 in Italy last time, hitting the front over a furlong out but then idling and caught close home. She definitely looks after herself, which explains her consistency but also her frustrating run, and she will be hard to keep out of the places. We both agree that the key may be delaying her challenge for as long as possible and we will be willing Rossa Ryan to wait a little longer than he did in San Siro last time.
15:00 Aintree - Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (Series Qualifier) 3m149y
Our Guide is well handicapped but his jumping remains a concern and both of us liked the each-way angle with the reliable LIHYAN. He was consistent in similar races last winter, finishing third in a conditionals’ handicap over this course and distance and again in a Pertemps qualifier at Newbury. He then made the most of a good opportunity to win at the latter track in March. He’s now below his last winning mark, and I can forgive his unplaced comeback run at Cheltenham where he wasn’t knocked about. A flat track suits him better, and with that run under his belt, he looks sure to be competitive here.

Last year’s field of 22 split into two groups, 18 of them preferring to race up the stands side and just the four on the far side. From stall 4 Golden Mind won the race. Riding to your draw works, who knew?
In the hope Toby Moore keeps Uncle Don to the far side, I fancy he can come out on top. He’s been running well since joining Robert Cowell at the start of the year and did nothing wrong when beaten a length in the Ayr Silver Cup last time, “winning” the stands side group but sadly for him, low numbers were the place to be, the first three home all coming from low single-figure draws.
Trip and ground are both fine, and the aforementioned Toby Moore takes another 7lb off his back, and the hope is that much like Golden Mind last year, he can pretty much make all.
16:25 Southwell - Midnight A Next Generation Betting App Handicap 6f
Blackjack doesn’t run two races alike, so he needs to break that good run/bad run streak today, but this is his second try in 0-55s after racing in better company this autumn, so the hope is he can finally string two good ones together.
He’s got no Mini Mac to worry about today, having finished second to the thrown-in James Owen 4-y-o (and he’s won again since to frank that form) last time out, his best run for some time, and his handicap mark now reflects his current level of ability. Stacks of course form to call upon, expect him to be front rank throughout.
