Racing betting tips: Monday October 5
1pt win Alpha Magic in the 14:40 Pontefract at 9/2 (General) – NON RUNNER

14:40 Pontefract - Autism In Racing Handicap 6f
ALPHA MAGIC and Fiscal Policy dominate the betting here and that’s no surprise as they fought out the finish of a similar contest over C&D last month, which Fiscal Policy shaded by a head.
The result would probably have been different had Alpha Magic not met some trouble when travelling well early in the home straight and he found the line coming a stride too soon despite finishing best from that point. His best effort this season prior to that also came at this C&D when fourth on his return despite looking in need of the run after a nine-month absence.
Fiscal Policy ran well to finish a close fourth in a stronger handicap here last time, and heads the market, but he is marginally worse off at the weights with Alpha Magic here and we both thought that the Easterby runner was the one to beat, while the fact the pair come from the lowest stalls on good ground here should ensure there are no excuses this time around.
17:33 Pontefract - Constant Security Services Handicap 5f
Another sprint handicap in which the two lowest-drawn runners have the most compelling claims on recent form. Jojo Rabbit is the one to beat after an easy win at Catterick last time and he just failed to land a gamble over C&D on his previous start.
Without the benefit of morning prices, he’d be the pick, but he’s already been heavily backed and he’s likely to set a strong pace which should give next-door-neighbour SOLID BOND a good tow into the race from stall 2.
Solid Bond appreciated the stiff finish when winning a Class 6 handicap over this trip at Carlisle last month and backed that up with an excellent effort on softer ground at Hamilton last time despite being part of a leading group that went off too hard in conditions.
In the end she shaped very well to be beaten only by one who was ridden more patiently, faring much the best of those to race on the speed. That ability to prolong her effort despite going fast early is what is needed here and while the projected pace here is also strong, we envisage her taking a good track position early and then staying on to take some share of the spoils.
