Richard Fahey column on his Doncaster St Leger meeting

Our star columnist with a horse-by-horse guide to his team for the second day of the William Hill St Leger Festival with Eastern Impact fancied to go well under Megan Nicholls.

Best chances:

1605 Doncaster Thursday

Onto Thursday and we’re double-handed in the Weatherbys Racing Bank 300,000 2-Y-O Stakes.

Get The Rhythm is a nice horse. We like him a lot. He won at Thirsk last time and while he has plenty to find on ratings, he isn’t without a chance.

We’ve been waiting all year for some decent ground for Wasntexpectingthat, the softer the better for him. We really liked him early on but he got a bit jarred up at Beverley last time. He’s back moving well now after a break and we’re very happy with him but he too needs to step right up.

We’re taking five pounds off Eastern Impact in the Silk Series Lady Riders' Handicap with Megan Nicholls’ claim. The blinkers certainly seemed to have a positive effect on him at York last time and he’d have a chance here if they do so again – for all he hasn’t won for a while.

Society Red is a funny horse - he’ll bomb out then bounce back the next time. He needs to be near his best in the Mechanical Facilities Handicap but this track seems to suit him and he’s very well.

The more rain the better for Picture No Sound in the closing DFS Handicap. He came back jarred up from Dubai but is moving well now. He’s entitled to come on for his recent run at Thirsk.
