The return to six furlongs benefitted QUEEN'S GUARD when off the mark in handicaps at the second time of asking at Lingfield earlier this month. The daughter of Havana Grey is now 2-3 over the distance and there was loads to like about the way she stuck her head down and scooted through the line in the closing stages last time. She's up 7lb in the weights and this race demands more still but she's obviously on an upward curve and looks a sprinter to follow at the moment.
DOLLY GRAY goes well fresh and looks the one to be on in Chepstow's 0-75 sprint handicap. The Tamayuz mare was back from a short break (52) days when winning cosily on her last outing at Sandown in September and although bumped up 5lb to a new career-high mark, her half-sister Ffion kept improving with age, winning handicaps off marks in the mid-80s, and Dolly Gray looks well capable of stamping her quality on this moderate field.
ALPINE SIERRA isn't thrown in by any means off a mark of 68 but he won handicaps from 66 and 67 last year so is thereabouts again terms of his handicap rating and the recent third at Ayr was a big improvement on his comeback effort when well down the field at Musselburgh. He should give a very good account on ground we know he handles well.
