Open Wide benefited from a ferocious pace to come from last to first and land the Dribuild Ltd Handicap at Bath.
Martin Dwyer gave the Amanda Perrett-trained gelding time to find his feet after being slowly away as Arzaak set his rivals a merry gallop in the five-and-a-half-furlong dash.
It was only in the last 50 yards that Open Wide (4/1) nosed his way to the front to score by a neck from the long-time leader.
"He doesn't look the easiest of rides. It's just the way the way he carries himself," said Perrett's husband and assistant, Mark.
"Maybe he doesn't put his head down and go forward like other horses do, but that's just him."
He added: "They went very quick and the others came back to him. Hopefully that will give him confidence to go and win again. A track like this suits him well."
Andrea Atzeni struck at the double as he steered both Cubswin and Aquadabra to their first career successes.
Atzeni gave Cubswin (2/1) a good front-running ride as the Roger Charlton-trained filly got off the mark at the sixth attempt when beating Plato's Kode by two lengths in the Travis Perkins Win Handicap.
"She's straightforward, stays well and likes fast ground," said the jockey.
Aquadabra (5/2) had finished in the first four in all her previous six starts and was rewarded for her consistency when finally getting her head in front in the Afi-Uplift Nursery Handicap.
The Mick Channon-trained filly led a furlong out and held Dreamboat Annie by a neck.
"She was slowly out of the stalls and we lost a bit of ground early on, but they went a good gallop and she travelled well through the race and picked up well," Atzeni told At The Races.
"Mick was quite confident about her. She's been consistently running well and ran well here the last day."
Archimedes has a lot to do to emulate his illustrious sprinting stablemate Take Cover, but the four-year-old showed he is no mean five-furlong horse when taking the Bird In Hand Salford Handicap for trainer David Griffiths.
A close third in a similar event at Doncaster five days earlier, the 15/8 favourite led all the way in the hands of Oisin Murphy to see off Secret Agent by a length and a half.
Imphal (4/6 favourite) followed up last month's success at the Somerset track for Marcus Tregoning and 7lb claimer Tyler Saunders when never headed in the Dribuild Supports Together for Short Lives Handicap.
The Malcolm Saunders-trained Coronation Cottage (5/2) opened her account at the eighth attempt when taking the Hall's Dismantling And Removal Ltd Fillies' Handicap under 3lb claimer Charlie Bennett.
