Named after trainer Ed Dunlop’s late father John ‘Leeper’ Dunlop, Dettori rode his dam Snow Fairy in her final race – a gutsy Irish Champions Stakes victory over Nathaniel. How apt that it would be a pairing with that one’s arch nemesis Frankel would lead to this potential date with destiny.
